Challenging goals
In 2025, Kon Tum is one of 18 provinces and cities nationwide assigned by the Government to achieve a GRDP growth target of double digits or more, specifically 10%. This is an ambitious target, surpassing all previous growth targets. Notably, Kon Tum is the only locality in the Central Highlands region assigned this target. Kon Tum Provincial Party Secretary Duong Van Trang emphasized: “To achieve the assigned growth target in 2025, all levels, sectors, and functional units must make maximum efforts, be more proactive, creative, and determined in performing their tasks”.
According to experts and local leaders, the biggest difficulty that Kon Tum faces is site clearance for key investment projects. For example, the project to build a bypass route to the west of Kon Tum City. Although many construction packages have been implemented, site clearance is still slow, many households have not received adequate compensation, hindering progress.
During the inspection of the projects, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuy, Deputy Secretary of Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee, directed: “Units and localities must resolutely remove obstacles in site clearance, especially in areas where compensation plans have been made but people have not agreed. This is the decisive factor for investment projects to be completed on schedule.”
Similarly, the project to build a bridge and road from the Ia Chim Tourist Wharf to Ya Ly Commune, Sa Thay District, also encountered difficulties in site clearance when some households did not cooperate in measuring and reclaiming land. Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuy requested that authorities at all levels organize meetings with people to propagate and mobilize, help them understand the benefits of the project and quickly hand over the site.
In 2025, Kon Tum will resolutely implement public investment to promote local socio -economic development. |
Key to promoting economic development
Over the past years, Kon Tum has effectively exploited resources and implemented synchronous solutions for socio-economic development. In particular, focusing on promoting internal strength and exploiting local potentials. In 2 years (2023 to 2024), Kon Tum has a GRDP growth rate of 7.32% and 8.02% respectively, leading the Central Highlands region. Despite many adverse impacts, the province has maintained a stable growth momentum, thanks to the efforts of the government and the cooperation of the people.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuy, this year, Kon Tum strives to achieve GRDP growth of over 12%, the highest ever.
To achieve this, it is necessary to focus on reforming administrative procedures and improving business competitiveness. At the same time, it is necessary to promote investment in transport infrastructure and build key projects to create new momentum for economic development.
In addition to transport infrastructure projects, Kon Tum focuses on promoting investment in key sectors such as high-tech agriculture, tourism, and processing industry. The provincial government is committed to creating a favorable environment for investors through preferential policies, creating conditions for investment projects to take effect.
According to Mr. Duong Van Trang, Kon Tum is always ready to receive and support investors coming to the locality. The projects are not only economically significant, but also contribute to improving the quality of life for the people, creating more jobs and promoting sustainable development.
At the same time, Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee also made efforts to reform the organizational structure and streamline functional units to improve work efficiency. This is considered an important factor in implementing solutions for rapid and effective economic development.
