On the morning of April 24, in Jakarta, the Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong speaks at the ceremony. |
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Ta Van Thong emphasized that the Anniversary is an occasion to be proud of the country's history, to remember and pay tribute to previous generations, heroic martyrs, comrades and compatriots who heroically sacrificed their blood and bones, devoted their whole lives to the cause of national liberation, national reunification, building and defending the Fatherland; and progressive, peace-loving forces in the world who have supported the Vietnamese people.
The 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising and the victory of the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign carried out by the armed forces and the entire Vietnamese people 50 years ago ended the great resistance war against the US to save the nation.
This historic victory completely liberated the South, unified the country, and opened a new era for the nation - the era of national independence, unity, and together building a socialist Vietnam of "rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization".
The reunification day 50 years ago demonstrated the will for independence, self-reliance, self-reliance and the aspiration for peace of the entire nation. This is even more meaningful in the current context, when the country continues to carry out comprehensive renovation, achieving great achievements in all fields of economy, politics , culture, society, national defense, security and foreign affairs.
On a global scale, the Spring 1975 victory is significant as a typical victory of the world revolutionary forces; contributing to strongly promoting the struggle of the world's people for the goals of independence, peace, democracy and social progress; encouraging and motivating the peoples carrying out the cause of national liberation and fighting against imperialism.
On the foreign affairs front, diplomacy has contributed to the victory of 50 years of Southern Liberation and national reunification, notably the result of the 1973 Paris Agreement on ending the war and restoring peace in Vietnam.
Chief of the Defense Attaché Office in Indonesia, Colonel Nguyen Tuan Duc spoke at the Ceremony. |
Continuing those achievements, representative agencies, agencies working on bilateral and multilateral foreign affairs, officials working on political diplomacy, economic diplomacy and people's diplomacy are contributing to strengthening and expanding Vietnam's relations with other countries in both breadth and depth, creating a peaceful and stable environment and an open foreign policy situation, favorable for socio-economic development and protecting independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, while continuing to enhance the country's international position and prestige, contributing to creating momentum for the country to firmly enter a new era, an era of national development.
Promoting the spirit of the victory of April 30, 1975, Ambassador Ta Van Thong requested all officials and employees of the representative agency in Indonesia to continue to contribute more to the country's foreign affairs, continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and creativity in work; implement the foreign policy of multilateralization, diversification, proactive and active international integration; contribute to the successful implementation of the goals in the cause of national construction and development.
