Always towards workers and laborers
Over the years, the Trade Union has played a good role as a representative to care for and protect union members and workers. Accordingly, Trade Unions at all levels have organized many meaningful activities for workers and laborers. The highlight of these days is the "Trade Union Meal" program (implemented from July 20 to September 2, 2025) which is being organized by Trade Unions at all levels nationwide to express gratitude, encourage and unite workers. Along with that is the activity of visiting and giving gifts to workers and laborers on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2025).
In particular, one of the annual marks of the Trade Union organization in caring for workers is the humanitarian activities during Workers' Month. Accordingly, in Workers' Month 2025 alone (from May 1 to May 31), more than 1.4 million union members were supported with a total budget of over 265 billion VND; 1,010 Trade Union Shelters were built and repaired; millions of union members enjoyed benefits in health care , education, childcare, etc.
Another meaningful activity that cannot be ignored is the Fund for Supporting Workers, Civil Servants, and Poor Laborers. The capital from the fund has truly become a reliable support, bringing economic development opportunities and improving the quality of life for many union members. In Hanoi, from the fund's loan capital, many union members and workers have risen up to develop their family economy and improve their quality of life. In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the fund has disbursed 51.67 billion VND to 1,277 union members, workers, civil servants, and laborers who borrowed capital to develop the economy ...
Ms. Do Thi Thao in Ha Bang commune (Hanoi) - a worker working at a company in Thach That - Quoc Oai Industrial Park, shared: “As workers, we realize the important role of the Trade Union in the enterprise. On the one hand, it takes care of and protects the rights of workers; on the other hand, the Trade Union always accompanies workers in difficult circumstances to help them have more motivation to rise up in life.”
Promote harmonious, progressive and stable labor relations
Along with protecting, caring for and building sustainable welfare for workers and laborers, the Vietnam Trade Union affirms its creative role in building a humane, fair and developing working environment; building a modern, strong and worthy working class in the new era.
In particular, the current organizational apparatus of Trade Unions at all levels has been streamlined, operating effectively and efficiently, closely accompanying the political system. Accordingly, implementing the revolution of arranging and streamlining the apparatus of the political system, there are now 34 provincial and municipal labor federations corresponding to provincial-level administrative units from July 1, 2025. Currently, the whole country has 62,059 grassroots-level Trade Unions.
The streamlined organizational structure means that the role of the Trade Union at all levels will be greater and the responsibility will be higher. Recently, the establishment of the Trade Union of FANI Import-Export Trading Company Limited on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the Vietnam Trade Union has brought joy to the enterprise and the collective of workers. Notably, this is the first Trade Union directly mobilized by the Hanoi City Labor Federation to be established after the model of Trade Union at the upper level directly at the grassroots level ended its operation.
Sharing at this meaningful event, Permanent Vice President in charge of the Hanoi City Labor Federation Le Dinh Hung said that the City Labor Federation will continue to accompany and support the grassroots Trade Unions to perform well the functions and tasks of the Trade Union organization. Along with that, it will directly promote propaganda about the rights and obligations of workers when becoming Union members.
Through this, it can be seen that the Trade Union organization after the reorganization and streamlining is operating according to the motto of being closely and substantially attached to workers and laborers. The highest goal is not only to recruit more members but also to build a real grassroots Trade Union organization with a voice, the capacity for dialogue, and a true representation of workers in the workplace. In other words, the Trade Union organization must become a place where workers and laborers come to when they need direction and share problems in life; a "common home" that nurtures the aspirations of union members and laborers to rise up.
As the country enters a new era, the Vietnam Trade Union will continue to promote its 96-year tradition to make important contributions to the country's development. President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang said that in the new context, the activities of the Trade Union organization continue to focus on the grassroots level, focusing on performing well the core task of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests, and practically caring for the interests of union members and workers. At the same time, Trade Unions at all levels continue to promote digital transformation, contributing to building a modern production force, applying high technology, improving labor productivity and participating in perfecting legal policies, promoting harmonious, progressive and stable labor relations - contributing to creating a foundation for the country's development in the new era.
