The Hampyeong Butterfly Festival takes place in late spring and early summer, when the golden canola flowers are blooming all over the fields of Hampyeong County, Jeollanam Province, southwest of Korea, and is one of the most unique festivals of the people of the kimchi land. This is also one of the important events to attract tourists, through access to environmentally friendly agricultural products; along with response programs such as cuisine, music, etc.

During the Butterfly Festival, the entire Hampyeong is considered a "Happy and Beautiful World of Butterflies" with many exhibitions and performances inspired by butterflies, flowers, and insects. Visitors have the opportunity to see hundreds of thousands of butterflies, caterpillars, and insects; thousands of specimens of butterfly species in the world, butterfly art, lighting effects, etc. in the Festival's botanical exhibition space.

To organize the Butterfly Festival, Koreans have to raise butterflies in greenhouses and plastic houses at temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius or higher. Each locality has its own unique butterfly species and the Organizing Committee selects the most beautiful butterflies to display at the Festival. Thanks to the Butterfly Festival, the entire Hampyeong region is known to many Koreans and the world as an ecological area closely associated with natural tourism...
