Buon Don district converges many unique cultural values ​​of the 29 ethnic communities, is a destination that tourists cannot miss when coming to Dak Lak. There are many traditional festivals here such as: Buffalo eating festival to celebrate the harvest, Grave abandonment festival, Gong festival, Elephant festival... Along with that are unique architectures such as: ancient stilt houses, "Elephant King" tomb, tomb house statue system... Buon Don is also a legendary land, famous for hunting and taming wild elephants. In recent times, the district has promoted tourism development associated with promoting the advantages of traditional cultural potential of ethnic groups in the area with the expectation of attracting investment, to make tourism become the main economic sector of the locality.

Lak district has a long-standing historical and cultural tradition with great potential for tourism development. The whole district has 19 ethnic groups living together, each with its own unique cultural features. In particular, the spiritual and cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities converge strongly, especially in festivals associated with the production cycle and life such as: New Rice Festival, Life Cycle Festival; Dugout Canoe Racing Festival; Longevity Celebration of the M'nong ethnic group; Gong Festival...

Tourists experience elephant-friendly tourism in Buon Don district.

In addition, what makes Lak district attractive is its natural landscape with wild and majestic beauty, interesting tourist attractions such as: Bim Bip waterfall (Yang Tao commune), Lieng Puh Pet waterfall, the historical site of Hang Da Ba Tang (Krong No commune), Chu Yang Lak mountain peak (1,700 m high), especially Chu Yang Sin mountain peak (2,442 m) the highest in the South Central Highlands mountain system. In particular, Lak lake (the largest natural freshwater lake in the Central Highlands) has a poetic beauty, surrounded by M'nong villages that still preserve many traditional cultural features...

In recent times, localities have promoted the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values ​​associated with tourism development.

Tri Village (Krong Na Commune, Buon Don District) possesses many long-standing, interwoven and co-developed cultural features of the Lao, Ede, Kinh, M'nong, J'rai ethnic groups... In 2024, Tri Village will officially become a community tourism village. This is a "push" to attract tourists to visit and experience, contributing to preserving and promoting the beauty of Lao culture in particular and the culture of ethnic groups in general; at the same time, creating conditions for people to increase their income and develop the economy. Yang Lanh Village (Krong Na Commune) is one of three villages selected by Dak Lak province to invest in building a homestay tourism model under a project funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This is where the Ede ethnic group lives, with 15 long houses to serve tourists staying and visiting to learn about the culture of the Ede people.

In Lak district, along with experiential tourism, mountain climbing to "hunt" clouds, many types of community tourism in the Ede and M'nong villages are forming and developing. M'Lieng village (Dak Lieng commune) is located next to the poetic Lak lake, one of the ancient villages of the M'nong Rlam people, still preserving the traditional tangible and intangible cultural values ​​of the local people. Jun village (Lien Son town) is one of the villages that converges the characteristics of the indigenous M'nong people. In 2024, Jun village was announced as a community tourism destination. Currently, the village is developing many community tourism products such as: experiential tourism, learning about the daily life of the M'nong people, traditional brocade weaving, elephant-friendly tourism, tourism with dugout canoes, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tam (Ho Chi Minh City) said that by choosing to come to Lak district, he was able to experience the landscape and culture of the local people. In addition to immersing himself in the cultural space and exploring the natural landscapes, he and his friends also had the opportunity to understand the customs and cultural life of the M'nong people, explore the brocade weaving, bamboo and rattan weaving, traditional pottery making of the M'nong people along Lak lake, learn about and enjoy gong culture... For him, these were very new and interesting experiences.
