In the recently released price market overview report for October and the first 10 months of 2025, the General Statistics Office ( Ministry of Finance ) said that inflation in October increased by 0.2% compared to the previous month, and in the first 10 months of this year, inflation increased by 3.27% compared to the same period in 2024.
The reasons for the increase in inflation in the past 10 months, according to the General Statistics Office, are the high price of food in provinces and cities directly affected by floods after storms, the increase in spending on eating out due to input material costs, and the continued increase in the price of educational services at non-public schools.
Analyzing the factors that increased inflation in the 10 months, the General Statistics Office said that the food and catering services group increased by 3.18%, causing the overall CPI to increase by 1.07 percentage points.
Of which, the food group increased by 3.43%, causing the overall CPI to increase by 0.73 percentage points, mainly due to the 9.4% increase in pork prices.
Similarly, the group of eating out increased by 3.74%, the food group increased by 0.47%.
In addition, the price index of housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased by 6.2%, causing the overall CPI to increase by 1.17 percentage points due to increased rents and prices of housing maintenance materials.
In addition, the price of household electricity increased by 7.45% due to increased demand for electricity, along with EVN adjusting the average retail electricity price on October 11, 2024 and May 10, 2025, causing the overall CPI to increase by 0.25 percentage points.
The price index of the group of drugs and medical services increased by 13.39%, causing the general CPI to increase by 0.72 percentage points due to the price of medical services being adjusted up according to Circular No. 21/2024 of the Ministry of Health.
The education group price index increased by 1.95%, causing the general CPI to increase by 0.12 percentage points due to some private universities, high schools, and kindergartens adjusting tuition fees upwards.
The price index of household equipment and appliances increased by 1.64%, causing the overall CPI to increase by 0.11 percentage points.
The price index of other goods and services increased by 5.13%, causing the overall CPI to increase by 0.18 percentage points, mainly due to a 10% increase in notary fees, insurance and other services.
Core inflation (excluding food prices and increased energy costs) increased by 3.2% on average in the first 10 months over the same period last year.
