At the end of 2021, Thaiholdings Joint Stock Company approved the capital contribution to establish Thaispace Joint Stock Company with the goal of conducting the first flight into space in Phu Quoc. Thaispace's total expected charter capital is VND 26,688 billion. The company also plans to raise capital from the US stock market with an IPO plan in 2022 if qualified.

Thaigroup also sent an official dispatch to the People's Committee of Kien Giang province (old), requesting to research, survey the location and propose to invest in the tourism spaceport project in Phu Quoc with an investment of nearly 30,000 billion VND.

However, after that time, Mr. Thuy's plan had many notable changes.

Specifically, in May 2022, Thaispace switched to a LLC model and reduced its charter capital to only VND 2,275 billion. At this time, Thaispace's ownership structure includes: Thaiholdings (holding 16.98% of charter capital) and Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy (owning 83.02% of charter capital).

In June 2022, Thaispace changed its name to Bai Thom - Phu Quoc Investment, Trade and Service Company Limited (Bai Thom - Phu Quoc). Mr. Thuy transferred his capital contribution in this legal entity to Ms. Pham Thu Hang and Mr. Nguyen Chi Kien.

By October 2022, Thaiholdings will complete divestment at Bai Thom - Phu Quoc to Mr. Trinh Van Thiem - former Chairman of Thaigroup Board of Directors.

Meanwhile, on a global scale, similar steps were initiated many years ago by billionaires such as Elon Musk (SpaceX), Jeff Bezos (Blue Origin) or Richard Branson (Virgin Galactic). They all turned similar dreams into industries worth hundreds of billions of dollars.

The most prominent is Elon Musk with the SpaceX project. From a technology entrepreneur to the first private rocket launch into orbit, Elon Musk opened a new era for the aerospace industry. The space dream of this world billionaire, according to foreign press, is not only about conquering space, but also the aspiration to turn humanity into an interplanetary civilization.

SpaceX was founded in 2002 with the goal of cutting the cost of rocket launches by 90%. His first project failed three times in a row, leaving the company on the brink of bankruptcy. The fourth launch in 2008 was successful, helping SpaceX win a $1.6 billion contract with NASA to transport cargo to the International Space Station (ISS).

Not stopping at launching rockets, Musk continues to expand his "space empire" with the Starlink project - a network of thousands of satellites providing high-speed Internet from orbit.

Despite multiple failed tests, billionaire Elon Musk remains steadfast. He believes that “each explosion is a lesson to get closer to the big goal”. SpaceX is now known to have successfully entered the orbital testing phase, ready for cargo and human missions in the near future.
