The first version 0.1 of Grokipedia currently has over 885,000 articles.
On October 28th, tech billionaire Elon Musk's xAI company officially launched the online encyclopedia Grokipedia, directly competing with Wikipedia – a platform that Musk has repeatedly accused of being "ideologically biased".
According to information on its homepage, the first version 0.1 of Grokipedia – which Mr. Musk claims is "superior to Wikipedia" – currently has over 885,000 articles, significantly fewer than the more than 7 million English-language articles on Wikipedia.
The company xAI stated that the content of the online encyclopedia Grokipedia was created by artificial intelligence (AI) and the Grok linguistic assistant, a language tool that Musk promoted as having superior understanding and not being bound by prejudice.
At the Grokipedia launch event, xAI announced that it would soon introduce an updated version 1.0.
According to billionaire Musk, the new version will be "10 times better" than the original 0.1 version.
Sharing on social media after the launch, billionaire Musk emphasized that Grok and Grokipedia.com's ultimate goal is to provide "the whole truth."
Wikipedia was founded in 2001 and is an open-source online encyclopedia that operates based on volunteer contributions and crowdfunding, allowing internet users to compile and edit content. The website claims to maintain a "neutral viewpoint" in all its articles.
