US Ambassador Marc E. Knapper visits General Vo Nguyen Giap's grave for the first time

US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper visited the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap in Vung Chua, Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district.

On the afternoon of April 1, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper and provincial leaders visited the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap in Vung Chua, Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district. Attending the visit were comrade Tran Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of relevant departments and branches.

Here, US Ambassador Marc E. Knapper and members of the delegation respectfully offered incense at the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap.

This is Ambassador Marc E. Knapper’s second trip to Quang Binh province and the first time he has visited General Vo Nguyen Giap’s grave in Vung Chua. Previously, Ambassador Marc E. Knapper had the opportunity to visit and offer flowers in memory of General Vo Nguyen Giap at the General’s Memorial House in his hometown of Le Thuy district.

In 2004, Ambassador Marc E. Knapper met General Vo Nguyen Giap when he was still alive.

On the same morning, Comrade Tran Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, received US Ambassador Marc E. Knapper on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
