First exhibition of 3D embossed oil paintings by Truong Kim

Not stopping at the flat surface on canvas, artist Truong Kim brings to viewers a painting experience like a relief with interesting 3D embossed oil paint material at his first solo exhibition 'Colors go with the years'.

The exhibition Colors of the Years introduces 27 works recording the creative journey over the past 4 years of artist Truong Kim, on display until October 10 at Maii Art Space (HCMC).

Born in 1972 in Cam Ranh, Truong Kim came to painting through self-study. For more than ten years holding a brush, she has persistently pursued inspiration from nature, Buddhism and life. Painting is a way for Truong Kim to listen to herself, and also a way to find peace.

Colors of the Years is the first exhibition in which Truong Kim officially introduces to the public works that are the crystallization of spiritual experiences and daily life.

The highlight of Truong Kim's paintings is the 3D embossed oil paint material with embossed powder mixed by herself combined with oil color.

Thanks to many layers of color and embossing powder, the painting appears as a multidimensional space, creating visual depth while evoking the feeling of the impermanent flow of time imprinted in every detail.

A corner of lotus still life painting, where life and impermanence coexist

In the exhibition, the lotus is a consistent image, depicted in many states from blooming to fading and then rebirth, symbolizing the endless cycle. On the lotus background are beautiful, peaceful, benevolent spiritual images, inviting us to find stillness.

As a lay person commented, each painting by Truong Kim is like a dharma talk, each color block is like a sutra, leading viewers into a visual meditative experience.

In addition to the spiritual paintings, viewers also encounter poetic everyday moments such as a pair of cranes next to a peach branch, a trellis of orchids blooming at night, and many vivid still life paintings.

The embossed color layer creates visual depth characteristic of Truong Kim's paintings.

Sharing about his first exhibition, Truong Kim said: "I have been holding a brush for more than ten years, now I have the opportunity to hold an exhibition, I am very grateful to everyone who has accompanied and supported me."

The colors of the years are not only an artistic rendezvous, but also a meditative space, where colors and lines help viewers find serenity and peace.
