Spreading humane policies to ethnic minorities in Lai Chau

Legal aid is a humane policy of the Party and the State with the aim of providing free legal support to the disadvantaged to protect their legitimate rights and interests. In Lai Chau province, legal aid work has been effectively implemented, especially in particularly difficult localities and ethnic minority areas.

According to information from the Lai Chau Provincial State Legal Aid Center, in the first 9 months of 2025, the Center received and provided legal aid to 405 subjects, including 296 criminal and criminal procedure cases with 296 subjects; provided legal advice on 18 cases for 18 subjects; connected and participated in 16 online court sessions with 19 cases for 19 subjects receiving legal aid at the regional people's court in the province.

At the same time, the Center also organized specialized communication on legal aid to the villages in 7 communes across the province with 1,150 participants; organized training conferences to improve legal knowledge on legal aid and the right to legal aid of ethnic minority and mountainous people.

Communication and legal consultancy activities not only contribute to raising legal awareness in the community, but also support local authorities in implementing the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State, as well as socio- economic development programs in the area. Through communication and training sessions on legal aid knowledge, many problems of the people have been promptly resolved, contributing to improving the effectiveness of legal access at the grassroots level.

In the coming time, the Center will continue to promote propaganda and dissemination of legal education to people, especially in remote areas where many ethnic minorities live. At the same time, it will continue to organize communication campaigns and training courses on legal aid knowledge at the grassroots level, equipping skills and raising legal awareness for officials and people. Mock trials will continue to be deployed with real situations, associated with real people and real events so that people can easily access and better understand legal aid work.
