Lao Cai completes provincial-level firefighting and rescue drills in 2025

On the morning of October 24, at Lao Cai General Hospital No. 2, Cam Duong Ward, the Provincial People's Committee organized a firefighting and rescue plan drill at the provincial level in 2025. This is an annual activity to improve response capacity and ensure fire prevention and fighting safety at key facilities in the area.

Attending the drill were comrade Ngo Hanh Phuc - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the 2025 Provincial Fire Fighting and Rescue Drill; comrade Hoang Thi Thanh Binh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; leaders of the Provincial Police, along with representatives of relevant units and representatives of the Police of Tuyen Quang, Son La, Lai Chau and Phu Tho provinces.

The exercise was hosted by the Provincial Police in coordination with relevant units. Participating were officers and soldiers of the Police force, the Provincial Military Command, staff of General Hospital No. 2, along with the Cam Duong Ward Civil Defense force and essential infrastructure enterprises.

In the first 9 months of 2025, the province had 35 fires, a decrease of 21 cases compared to the same period in 2024; there were no human casualties. The cases were handled promptly, contributing to maintaining security and safety for socio- economic development.

General Hospital No. 2 is a key medical facility of the province, with a scale of 1,000 beds, regularly having from 2,000 to 3,000 people working, examining and treating each day. Therefore, organizing fire fighting and rescue drills is important in proactively responding to emergency situations, minimizing risks to life and property.

In his opening speech, comrade Ngo Hanh Phuc - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the 2025 Provincial Fire Fighting and Rescue Drill emphasized: Fire fighting and rescue is an extremely difficult and complicated task, requiring a spirit of urgency, precision and close coordination between forces, properly implementing the motto "Golden seconds, golden minutes, golden hours", "Determined to fight, determined to win, ready to fight with all your might for the peace and happiness of the people".

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the forces participating in the exercise to promote their skills and tactics in fire fighting, rescue, and first aid; with a sense of responsibility, solidarity, and close coordination; ensure absolute safety for people and vehicles participating, and excellently complete the goals and requirements set forth by the Provincial People's Committee and the Steering Committee.

The exercise took place seriously and urgently; the forces coordinated smoothly, handled the simulated situations correctly, ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles.

Colonel Nguyen Xuan Tuan - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the 2025 Provincial Fire Fighting and Rescue Drill highly appreciated the concentration and good coordination between the forces, ensuring the time for fire fighting and rescue as required; at the same time, the Colonel also pointed out some limitations that need to be overcome to improve the effectiveness of fire fighting and rescue in real situations.

After the exercise, the Steering Committee organized an evaluation, drew lessons and commended the collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements. Of which, 17 collectives and individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; 9 collectives and individuals were awarded by the Director of the Provincial Police.
