Warning information from the Provincial Police sent to the people

Accordingly, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention of the Provincial Police has received a number of criminal reports related to the scam "Creating a fake Facebook of a hot girl, blackmailing dozens of people with sensitive videos ".

The method of the subjects is to create fake Facebook accounts, using a hot girl profile picture taken from the internet. Then, they actively text the victims to entice them to record "sensitive" videos of themselves and send them to the subjects.

Upon receiving the victim’s “sensitive” video, the subject began to blackmail by threatening the victim to transfer money or else he would send the “sensitive” video to friends and relatives and spread it on social networks. Due to fear of losing reputation and honor, many victims transferred money and the subject appropriated it.

All people in the province need to understand the method of identification that scammers use, which is to post “pornographic” images on their personal pages with the purpose of attracting people to make friends and get to know them. They promise to give 5-10 million VND if the victim records a “sensitive” video and sends it to the subject.

To avoid being scammed, the provincial police have advised people to check the personal information of strangers when they send friend requests or contact them via social networks.

Set your social media accounts to private and only allow friends to see your personal information, be wary of video calls and sending “sensitive” images from strangers. Contact the nearest police station immediately for resolution when suspecting or discovering fraud.
