Previously, some schools also had lower floor scores than most other universities. For example, Quang Trung University (Gia Lai province) announced a floor score of 13 for majors in business administration, accounting, finance - banking, construction engineering technology, hotel - restaurant management, tourism - travel service management, 14 for majors in English language, information technology, public health .

Similarly, Hung Yen University of Technical Education also has a floor score of 13-14 points, all majors of Thanh Dong University ( Hai Phong City) and most majors of the University of Social Labor also have a floor score for the high school graduation exam score method of 14.

Explaining the decision to set a lower floor score than other schools, Master Nguyen Thi Mai Binh, Head of Department of Hung Vuong University, Ho Chi Minh City, said: "Before determining this floor score, the school's Admissions Council carefully studied the score distribution of this year's graduation exam subjects and the total university admission quota over the total number of candidates taking the exam in 2024. With the ratio of the quota over the total number of candidates taking the exam being about 70%, it is necessary to choose a score level so that about 70% of candidates can register for university admission. Meanwhile, this year, many subjects have an average score much lower than last year."

"At the same time, the school also relies on the percentile of subjects announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, the score that 70% of candidates can achieve in subjects such as math, English, physics, and chemistry is only 4 and 4.5 points. Therefore, some combinations have scores of only about 12 or a little more."

According to Master Mai Binh, this is only the minimum threshold for receiving applications, not the standard score. "The school's orientation is to create conditions for admission for all candidates with scores in the top 70% of high school graduation exam results who wish to study at university. The school accepts different starting points and is willing to accompany students throughout their 4 years of university, so that after graduation, they will have enough knowledge and skills to participate in the labor market. Therefore, the school has determined the floor score this year to be 12", Master Mai Binh informed.
