At the 33rd SEA Games, the women's team is in Group B - considered to have many challenges as opponents Malaysia and Myanmar maintain stable forces, while the Philippines has a squad with many naturalized players.
The Vietnam women's team is currently in a transitional phase, with many young players needing time to nurture and develop.

Before the departure day, the women's team faced a disadvantage when midfielder Nguyen Thi Van was injured in a practice match on the afternoon of November 18.
