The Guardian is one of the most prestigious newspapers in the UK and the world. Every year, it publishes a list of the 60 most promising talents based on data provided from around the globe.

Notably, in the 2023 list recently published by The Guardian , Vietnamese football has one representative: midfielder Le Dinh Long Vu.

A British newspaper commented on the talent of the 17-year-old Vietnamese player: "Vietnamese football produces many technically skilled players with good speed and the ability to handle the ball with both feet. Among them, Long Vũ has brought much excitement to the fans."

This young midfielder made a particularly strong impression at the U17 Asian Championship and was even called up to the Vietnam U23 team. Long Vũ's speed and dribbling ability have led to comparisons with Manchester City star Phil Foden.

Not every young player develops his full potential, but with a coach and a club with the right development strategy, Long Vu can go far in his career."

2023 saw remarkable progress for Long Vũ. The Sông Lam Nghệ An midfielder shone at the U17 Asian Championship and contributed a spectacular goal.

Later, he was part of the Vietnam U23 team that participated in the U23 Asian Championship. While playing for Song Lam Nghe An U21, he contributed to helping the team win the runner-up title in the national U21 championship.

Long Vũ has played for Song Lam Nghe An in a few friendly matches, but he needs to gain more experience to be ready to play in the V-League.

The midfielder, born in 2006, is the second player in the history of Vietnamese football to be included in The Guardian 's list of the 60 most promising young players.

In 2014, Phan Thanh Hau was also honored on this list. Unfortunately, the player who came through the Hoang Anh Gia Lai youth academy has not been able to develop as expected.
