According to legend, Mr. Hoang Muoi was a patriot who loved his people. When a hurricane struck and destroyed houses, he and his soldiers went up the mountain to cut bamboo and opened the food warehouse to help the people. However, when they reached the foot of Hong Linh mountain, his boat sank. The villagers mourned and held a funeral when suddenly the sky appeared with five-colored clouds, forming the shape of a red horse and his body floated to the surface of the water as light as air. When they reached the shore, termites suddenly pushed up the soil, covering his remains.

Out of admiration and gratitude, the local people built a temple and honored him as Duc Ong Hoang Muoi, taking the 10th day of the 10th lunar month every year as the death anniversary of Duc Thanh Quan.

The death anniversary of Saint Quan Hoang Muoi is a spiritual and cultural activity to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of the nation, commemorate the merits of the gods, and at the same time propagate andeducate the tradition of patriotism, love of homeland, and national pride for generations.

Cho Củi Temple also has the Chinese name Thanh Mau Linh Tu. The temple was built during the Later Le Dynasty with a Tam-shaped structure consisting of three gates, lower hall, middle hall and upper hall. Although it has undergone many renovations, it still retains its ancient, solemn and mysterious features, in harmony with the landscape of mountains and rivers and the modern world of the people.
