On November 15-16, at Tam Chuc National Tourist Area, Ninh Binh province, the Vietnam - Japan Buddhist Cultural Exchange Festival took place with the participation of thousands of monks, nuns, Buddhists, people and tourists from Japan.
This year's festival has many traditional rituals and art activities of Vietnam and Japan such as: Chanting at Tam The Temple, Tam Chuc Pagoda; Xam singing; flower scattering and Buddha recitation ritual (Pure Land sect); copying sutras (according to Japanese Buddhist culture); night of flower lanterns; morning meditation; Buddha worship ceremony at Ba Sao Pagoda...
In particular, at the festival, the monks of the Japanese Buddhist delegation performed the Fire Purification Ceremony. This is a Japanese Buddhist ritual with sacred meaning to solve difficult problems and achieve wishes.
With the symbolic power of fire, the Fire Purification Ceremony reminds people to appreciate the blessings of the Sun - the source of energy that nourishes life and the ritual of using the power of the sun to ward off evil and illness.
According to Most Venerable Thich Minh Quang, Deputy Chief of the Central Office of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Deputy Abbot of Tam Chuc Pagoda, the Vietnam-Japan Buddhist Cultural Exchange Festival is held every two years. This year, Tam Chuc Pagoda was again chosen as the venue.
The Vietnam-Japan Buddhist Cultural Exchange Festival is a spiritual event, praying for national peace and prosperity, helping each Buddhist and citizen understand more about the unique cultural exchange rituals of Buddhism of the two countries, contributing to tightening the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
This is also an opportunity to promote the image of Tam Chuc Tourist Area to a large number of international tourists, especially the Japanese community living and working in Vietnam./.
