“Spring tea fragrance - Tan Cuong specialty tea region” is an annual festival, organized by the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen City in early spring for more than 20 years, to honor the land of “First famous tea”, honor the tea growing and processing profession. The People's Committee of Thai Nguyen City is directing relevant units and localities to fully prepare the conditions for the 2025 Festival to take place successfully.

According to the plan, the 2025 “Spring Tea Fragrance and Colors Festival - Tan Cuong Special Tea Region” will be held at Tan Cuong Tea Cultural Space for 3 days, from February 7 to 9, or from January 10 to 12 (the opening ceremony will be held on February 8). The festival is expected to have 2 parts, including the ceremony and the festival.
The highlight of the ceremony is the procession of ancient tea trees from 6 communes in the Tan Cuong specialty tea region (including: Tan Cuong, Phuc Xuan, Phuc Triu, Quyet Thang, Thinh Duc, Phuc Ha). The selected tea trees are all decades old, with strong trunks and beautiful shapes, representing the soul, origin and roots that create the traditional tea village culture of the land and people here.
The festival will feature many activities, such as: beautiful tea tree competition and demonstration; fast tea picking competition; tea drying using traditional manual methods; bicycle racing; organizing a culinary experience space; mass running competition...
To ensure the success of the Festival, from the end of December 2024, the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen City issued a plan, assigning the City's Culture and Communication Center as the standing agency, coordinating with relevant departments, offices, and units of the province, city, and 6 communes of Tan Cuong tea area to implement.
Mr. Le Tuan Anh, Vice Chairman of Tan Cuong Commune People's Committee, said: Tan Cuong Commune is assigned to coordinate in preparing the area for the Festival; ensuring environmental sanitation, security and order. At the same time, select suitable locations and areas to hold competitions, such as: Tea roasting using traditional manual methods; fast tea picking; tea packaging; culinary competition...
Regarding the local preparation for the Festival, Tan Cuong commune has issued a specific plan, assigned tasks to each association and union, and coordinated with hamlets to implement. Currently, the work content basically ensures the proposed plan.

As a person with many years of experience in taking care of beautiful tea trees, representing Tan Cuong commune to participate in the annual Festival, Mr. Pham Van Quyen, in Hong Thai 1 hamlet, said: My family has many midland tea trees planted by our ancestors, which are 60-90 years old. Therefore, every time there is a festival related to tea trees, the family is trusted by the local people and assigned the task of taking care of and selecting the most beautiful tea trees to compete. This year, the family has selected 7 beautiful tea trees to focus on taking care of. Currently, all the tea trees have been planted in pots and carefully pruned. When organizing the Festival, the commune will evaluate which tree is the most beautiful to compete with other localities.
Ms. Dao Thanh Hao, Director of Hao Dat Tea Cooperative, Tan Cuong Commune, said: Every year, when organizing the Festival "Spring tea fragrance - Tan Cuong specialty tea region", Hao Dat Tea Cooperative is trusted by the City People's Committee and Tan Cuong Commune People's Committee to prepare conditions for organizing a number of competitions related to tea plants, such as: Fast tea picking competition, cuisine... Therefore, we have built a specific plan for each content. Particularly for the tea fields serving the fast tea picking competition, the Cooperative has adjusted the harvesting time 90 days in advance, with the purpose of being on time for the Festival, the tea fields develop beautifully and best.
Compared to previous years, this year's "Spring Tea Fragrance - Tan Cuong Specialty Tea Region" Festival has many new features and the programs are organized on a larger scale.
Specifically, the distance traveled by the vehicles in the beautiful tea tree parade is twice as long as last year (about 60km), starting from Tan Cuong Tea Cultural Space to the city's central routes.
The City People's Committee also organizes many activities within the framework of the Festival, such as: Performance of traditional Vietnamese martial arts; Tra land bicycle race; culinary competition...
Mr. Mai Xuan Tung, Director of the Center for Culture and Communication of Thai Nguyen City - the standing agency organizing the Festival, said: Up to this point, each content of the Festival has been developed by the relevant units, assigned specific tasks and implemented according to plan. Particularly for sports competitions, such as: Cycling, cross-country... The Organizing Committee has received registrations from individuals and clubs inside and outside the province to participate.

In terms of scale, the Cycling Race will have about 300 athletes; the Cross-Country Race will have about 1,200-1,500 athletes participating. The length of the Cycling Race route is about 25km, starting from the round island of Quyet Thang commune along To Huu - DT267 - Bac Son extended road.
Tan Cuong specialty tea area is located in the West of Thai Nguyen city, with a total area of over 1,500 hectares, and has been granted a certificate of protection for the geographical indication of Tan Cuong tea; "Knowledge of growing and processing Tan Cuong tea" is a national intangible cultural heritage; Tan Cuong commune is recognized as a "Community tourism destination of the tea area". The annual “Spring Tea Fragrance and Color Festival - Tan Cuong Special Tea Region” is an opportunity to honor the traditional profession of the people; a meeting place for tea growers, processors, and producers; and for those who enjoy and love tea. Through this, visitors from all over the world will be introduced and learn more about the people and the land that has long been known as the “First Famous Tea”. |
