At the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese women's team fell into a difficult group when they had to face Myanmar, the Philippines and Malaysia. Myanmar just won the runner-up position in the 2025 AFF Women's Cup, showing strong progress. Meanwhile, the Philippines has a force with many foreign-born players, rich in strength and technique, promising to create a big challenge for coach Mai Duc Chung and his team.
In Group A, host Thailand is considered to have an easier time as they only have to face Indonesia, Singapore and Cambodia. With their superior skills, the team from the Land of the Golden Pagoda is almost certain to secure a ticket to the semi-finals.
The women's football event at the 33rd SEA Games consists of 8 teams, divided into 2 groups competing in a round robin. The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals. The Vietnamese women's team is the current champion and is determined to defend its title against a series of strong opponents.
