On behalf of the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung reviewed important milestones in the history of relations between the two countries, including Cuba being the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam.
Leader Fidel Castro was the first and only foreign head of state to visit the liberated zone of South Vietnam in 1973. The two countries actively cooperate and support each other in the fields of agriculture , health, education and training, digital transformation and judicial reform.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnam - Cuba relationship is a priceless common asset of the two peoples and a shining model in international relations.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that in the coming time, the two countries need to further promote the tradition of solidarity, firmly follow the path of independence and self-reliance, constantly deepen political trust, and expand substantive and creative cooperation in all fields.
The two countries need to continue to accompany each other, share experiences, support each other to overcome difficulties, and work towards sustainable development, raising the relationship to a new level, worthy of the precious legacy that previous generations, including President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro, and the people of the two countries have worked hard to cultivate.
Speaking at the ceremony, First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel recalled the words of leader Fidel Castro, “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its own blood!” as well as the special affection of the great President Ho Chi Minh for the Cuban people.
Vietnam and Cuba have together overcome many difficulties to build an exemplary relationship of friendship and solidarity.
Looking back at 2025, the year of Vietnam-Cuba friendship, First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel assessed that the bilateral relationship had a successful year with many important events. Activities in the year of friendship brought about clear results, positively impacted the socio-economic development of each country, demonstrating the special solidarity and friendship between the people of the two countries.
Mr. Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese people for supporting the Cuban people through the program organized by the Vietnam Red Cross Society, considering this a testament to the deep, close and sincere affection between the people of the two countries.

After the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung, First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel and leaders of the two countries attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the solar power plant project. This is a gift from the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the people of Cuba, a project that is expected to help Cuba overcome its energy difficulties.
Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung symbolically handed over the second round of donations for the Cuban people "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship" organized by the Vietnam Red Cross. After 65 days, the Vietnamese people have donated over VND272 billion (10 times the expected amount), thereby demonstrating the solidarity and solidarity of the Vietnamese people with the Cuban people.
Vietnam always supports Cuba
Meeting with First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always cherish and remember the special solidarity and wholehearted support that Cuba has given to Vietnam.
Vietnam always pays close attention to and closely follows the situation in Cuba and deeply sympathizes with the difficulties that the Cuban people are facing. Vietnam's consistent stance is to unite and support Cuba, oppose and call for an end to the blockade and embargo against Cuba.
Welcoming Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung on his first visit to Cuba, First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel affirmed that this visit has special significance, taking place at the right time to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The visit clearly demonstrates the special, long-term, high trust and solidarity and friendship between the Vietnamese and Cuban peoples.
First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel was moved by the good feelings that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have for the Cuban people, including Vietnam giving Cuba the money mobilized from the program to support the Cuban people and starting the project of a renewable energy plant in Vista Alegre district, Mayabeque province.
Mr. Miguel Díaz-Canel highly appreciated the efforts and determination of Vietnamese ministries, branches and enterprises investing and doing business in Cuba.
Cuba is ready to create mechanisms and favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to expand their presence and enhance their operations in Cuba.
First Secretary and President Miguel Díaz-Canel agreed that the two countries need to further promote political trust and strategic coordination, maintain regular delegation exchanges, and regularly maintain and improve the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms.
The two sides also spent time discussing extensively international and regional issues of mutual concern, agreeing to continue consultation, close coordination and mutual support at international organizations and multilateral forums.
