Despite their best efforts, U22 Laos could not get a single point against U22 Vietnam in the opening match of the 33rd SEA Games. Evaluating the match, coach Ha Hyeok Jun of U22 Laos said: "I believe that the players tried their best until the last minute. The result was not as expected, but I am proud of my students."

Regarding the situation where the main referee "overruled" the assistant referee to award the goal to Dinh Bac, the Korean captain said: "We need to review. Initially, the assistant referee raised the flag for offside because he thought the U22 Vietnam player was blocking our goalkeeper's view. But then, the main referee changed his decision. Therefore, we need to review this situation carefully."
U22 Laos only lost narrowly to championship candidate U22 Vietnam, coach Ha Hyeok Jun said that his team can do better in the upcoming matches: "I believe that U22 Vietnam still maintains its strength as before. However, U22 Laos has made certain progress. Hopefully everything will continue to improve in the next confrontations."
