On the afternoon of December 2 (local time), continuing his visit and working program in Cuba, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung met with First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel at the Cuban Revolution Palace, Havana.

Expressing his joy at his first visit to the beautiful country of Cuba, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung sincerely thanked the "brotherly" reception that the Party, State and people of Cuba had given the delegation, especially on the day the two countries celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025). At the same time, he respectfully conveyed the warm regards of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu to the First Secretary, President Miguel Diaz-Canel and other key leaders of Cuba.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always cherish and remember the special solidarity and wholehearted support that Cuba has given Vietnam during the past years of fighting for national independence as well as in the cause of national construction and defense today.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that Vietnam always pays attention to and closely follows the situation in Cuba and deeply shares the difficulties that the Cuban people are facing; he believes that, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba headed by Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel, with the ideology of leaders Fidel Castro and Raul Castro, the Cuban people will continue to overcome all challenges, firmly protect the achievements of the revolution and successfully build a prosperous and happy socialism.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung reaffirmed Vietnam's consistent stance of solidarity and support for Cuba, opposing and calling for an end to the policy of blockade and embargo against Cuba.

The Deputy Prime Minister also shared updated information on the socio-economic development situation in Vietnam and the results of implementing the guidelines of the 13th National Party Congress and preparations for the 14th National Party Congress.

Warmly welcoming Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung on his first visit to Cuba, First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel affirmed that this visit has special significance, taking place at the right time to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, demonstrating the special affection and concern of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for the traditional friendship and special cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, which is a great source of encouragement for the revolutionary cause of the Cuban people.

Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel emphasized that the visit clearly demonstrates the special, long-term, high trust and solidarity nature of the Vietnamese and Cuban peoples.

Reviewing the impressions and good results achieved during his visit to Vietnam last September, the First Secretary and President of Cuba congratulated Vietnam on its outstanding political, foreign affairs, and socio-economic achievements in recent times, and highly appreciated Vietnam's growing role and position in the region and on the international arena.

The First Secretary and President of Cuba also expressed his special impression of the patriotism of the Vietnamese people shown during the 80th National Day celebration, thereby showing the trust of the majority of people, especially the young generation of Vietnam, in the country's future.

First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel expressed his emotion at the good feelings that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have for the Cuban people, including Vietnam's donation to Cuba of the funds mobilized from the Cuban people support program "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship" and the groundbreaking of the renewable energy plant project in Vista Alegre district, Mayabenque province, demonstrating the understanding, consensus and solidarity of the Vietnamese people towards the brotherly Cuban people.

Comrade Miguel Diaz-Cenel highly appreciated the efforts and determination of Vietnamese ministries, branches and enterprises investing and doing business in Cuba, thereby effectively and practically implementing the agreements reached during General Secretary To Lam's visit to Cuba, making positive contributions to the country's important economic sectors. Comrade Miguel Diaz-Cenel affirmed that Cuba is ready to create mechanisms and favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to expand their presence and strengthen their operations in Cuba.

First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez agreed that the two countries need to further promote political trust and strategic coordination, maintain regular exchanges of high-level delegations and close ties between the two Parties and States' top leaders; and regularly maintain and improve the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms. The two sides also spent time discussing extensively on international and regional issues of mutual concern, agreeing to continue consultations, close coordination, and mutual support at international organizations and multilateral forums of which Vietnam and Cuba are members, especially at the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement.

The two countries' leaders shared a stance in support of resolving international disputes by peaceful means on the basis of respect for international law and the United Nations Charter.

On this occasion, the First Secretary and President of Cuba respectfully conveyed his regards to General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and other high-ranking Vietnamese leaders; and wished to welcome the high-ranking Vietnamese leaders to visit Cuba again at a favorable time.
