The 2nd Asian Film Festival will award 'Cinematic Achievement'

2023 is a year of many successes for the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Cinematography with outstanding national and international activities. The most impressive is the construction and coordination with the People's Committee of Da Nang City to successfully organize the 1st Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF I) - the film festival has just been voted by the Sports & Culture Newspaper as one of the 10 outstanding cultural events and issues in 2023.

Following the success of the 1st Danang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF I, 2023), the 2nd Danang Asian Film Festival with the theme "DANAF - Asian Bridge" will take place from July 2 - 6 in Danang City.

The event was directed by the People's Committee of Da Nang City , chaired by the Vietnam Association for Cinema Promotion and Development, in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports and other departments and branches of Da Nang City , UniMedia Company, and Vietnamese and international organizations.

According to the organizers, DANAFF II still maintains the program framework of a professional film festival with the opening and closing ceremonies - award ceremonies broadcast live on Vietnam Television ( VTV ) and relayed by Da Nang Television and other television stations across the country.

The 2nd Asian Film Festival has many special programs such as: Asian Film and Vietnamese Film program competing with valuable awards; Vietnamese Cinema Today program introducing selected and newly produced Vietnamese films; Da Nang Selected Film program; Focus program on a country's cinema; artist exchanges with the audience; visiting relics, famous landscapes, promoting filming locations...

Notably, for the first time in Vietnam, DANAFF II will present the Cinema Achievement Award to an outstanding filmmaker who has made many contributions to cinema. The Cinema Achievement Award will be maintained annually.

The Organizing Committee opens registration for all filmmakers and film studios to submit films to participate in DANAFF II, starting from December 19, 2023.

The Asian Film Category includes feature length films (over 70 minutes) from the Asia - Pacific region. Films must be produced between February 2023 and March 2024. The final registration deadline is March 15, 2024.

The Vietnamese Film category includes: Vietnamese feature films, produced from February 2023 to April 2024. Deadline for registration: April 30, 2024.

The category "Vietnamese Cinema Today" includes: Vietnamese films with feature length (over 70 minutes), produced from January 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024. Deadline for registration: April 30, 2024.

The organizing committee will set up a selection committee to decide which films to enter into appropriate categories.

DANAFF II has 3 jury panels: Asian Film Jury, Vietnamese Film Jury and NETPAC Jury. Each jury panel consists of experts, stars, and famous filmmakers from Vietnam and internationally.

The organizing committee also announced the award structure in each category, in which the Best Film award in the Asian Film Competition category will receive 115 million VND, equivalent to 5,000 USD. In the Vietnamese Film Competition category, the Best Film award will receive 70 million VND.
