According to VTC News, the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) has received applications for referee duties at the AFF Cup 2024. Accordingly, Vietnam has 4 representatives participating in officiating matches in the upcoming tournament.
They are Ngo Duy Lan, Hoang Ngoc Ha, Le Vu Linh and Nguyen Trung Hau. Of these, 3 FIFA referees (Duy Lan, Ngoc Ha, Vu Linh) will only participate as table referees. Nguyen Trung Hau will act as assistant referee.
Among them, Mr. Ngo Duy Lan is the only FIFA Elite referee in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Trung Hau is a FIFA assistant referee in Vietnam who has been assigned by the AFC to officiate in Asian tournaments. Mr. Nguyen Trung Hau participated in the 2018 AFC U23 Championship finals.

To minimize issues related to sensitive factors, AFF will prioritize assigning referees outside Southeast Asia to be the main referees at the upcoming tournament. Thus, it can be understood that almost all referees in the region will only play the role of assistant or supervisor at AFF Cup 2024.
In recent tournaments, the issue of referees has always received much attention from countries in the region. The AFF Cup is always tense with fierce competition, so the tournament organizers are urgently selecting reputable referees to minimize risks and errors.
At the 2024 AFF Cup, the Vietnamese team is in Group B with opponents such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team are tasked with at least reaching the finals.
