Since the beginning of November, Lo Lo Chai village, Lung Cu commune ( Ha Giang ) has become busier than usual. The attraction comes not only from the title "World's best tourist village" but also from a persimmon tree laden with fruit, nestled next to a stone fence and an ancient rammed earth house. Every weekend, long lines of people line up to take photos, causing local traffic jams and giving the persimmon tree the humorous nickname "the most miserable persimmon tree in Vietnam".

The story of the famous rose tree
This persimmon tree is located in the grounds of the SEEME accommodation, and was planted by Ms. Linh, the homestay owner, in 2023. Ms. Linh shared that at first, she only wanted to plant more native trees such as peach, plum, pear and persimmon to beautify the space and create a unique mark. She deliberately placed the persimmon tree close to the stone fence, imagining a poetic scene when the ripe red fruit stood out against the mossy wall.
She did not expect that simple idea to turn the persimmon tree into a phenomenon, attracting great attention from the tourism community. "When I learned that people called this 'the most miserable persimmon tree in Vietnam', I was happy because it became a highlight not only for the homestay but also helped Lo Lo Chai attract more visitors," said Ms. Linh.

Lo Lo Chai Village: More than just one persimmon tree
Lying peacefully at the foot of Lung Cu Flagpole, Lo Lo Chai is one of the most beautiful ancient villages in Ha Giang. This place is famous for its yellow clay-walled houses, yin-yang tiled roofs covered with time and the unique indigenous culture of the Lo Lo people.
In 2023, Lo Lo Chai's appeal skyrocketed when it was honored by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) as one of the "Best Tourist Villages in the World ". This recognition has attracted a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to explore and experience.

Useful information for tourists
The sudden popularity of the persimmon tree also brings some inconveniences. The small road in front of the homestay is often noisy and crowded on weekends, affecting traffic. The owner of the persimmon tree wants visitors to visit and take photos in a civilized and orderly manner.
Notes when visiting
- Keep order, do not jostle or push when taking photos.
- Do not gather and talk loudly, especially in the evening.
- Never enter the house, climb the stone fence or pick fruit without permission.
Staying in Lo Lo Chai
The high number of visitors makes the homestays in Lo Lo Chai often full on weekends. Homestay SEEME, where the famous persimmon tree is located, has only 4 rooms with a maximum capacity of 20 people. The reference price is 450,000 - 500,000 VND/person/night. Visitors should book in advance to ensure accommodation.
