Economic plantation forests are now bringing high efficiency to people.

In fact, decades ago, many scientists around the world warned that climate change would cause many natural disasters. Therefore, Vietnam and many countries around the world have had policies to respond to climate change such as planting and protecting forests; reducing greenhouse gas emissions; green production and consumption; economic development associated with environmental protection (BVMT)...

For example, responding to this year's World Environment Day (June 5), launched by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) with the theme "Land restoration, combating desertification and drought", has also partly sent a message to countries and localities interested in preserving and protecting the forest environment.

Hue is one of the leading localities in the country in promoting forest protection and development since the time the Government issued an order to close natural forests. Since then, Hue has always focused on planting, protecting and preserving the most forests in the region, with hundreds of thousands of hectares; of which there are over 205 thousand hectares of natural forests. This is a valuable resource of the province.

Forests in Hue are located in the west of the province, in Phong Dien, Phu Loc, Nam Dong, A Luoi, etc.; including forests in Bach Ma National Park; forest reserves in the above-mentioned districts, etc. These locations are considered as “green lungs” that regulate the air for the whole province and the region. Therefore, the value of forests in Hue contributes to the environment is very large. This has been recognized by a number of domestic and international organizations.

Maintaining and developing such a large forest area over the past decades is due to the consensus between the provincial and local authorities and forest owners. In addition to caring for and protecting the forest, forest owners also have plans to plant more forests in poor forest areas and forest land without forests to increase the forest cover rate.

For a long time, the costs for planting, caring for and protecting forests have mostly come from the state budget (except for some domestic and foreign organizations and projects that support). Therefore, it is time to exploit the potential and advantages of forests to reinvest in forests and pay forest owners who have planted, cared for and protected forests. However, to preserve forests and exploit forests economically effectively, there needs to be clearer mechanisms and policies, consistent between laws, decrees and circulars. In particular, creating conditions and incentives for businesses, organizations and individuals to invest in planting, caring for, protecting and exploiting the potential and advantages of forests.

In Hue, if the difficulties and obstacles related to policies are resolved, the province will attract many large organizations and enterprises to lease and exploit the development of forest ecotourism. At the same time, the province will develop models of growing medicinal and industrial plants, aquaculture (with mangrove forests in the Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon area) under the forest canopy...

When Vietnam establishes a carbon credit market, Hue is expected to be bustling. From there, revenue from forests will bring a significant source of income to the local budget in the coming time if well-organized exploitation.
