A video capturing the moment a 4-year-old boy repeatedly called for his mother as she lay in a hospital bed battling terminal cancer has touched millions of social media users.

Yang Yucheng, from Yunnan Province, China, gently calls out "Mom" and whispers "I love you, Mom" ​​while sitting by his bedside at home. His mother, Cun Caituan, is battling terminal cancer.

The video, shared on October 12th and attracting over 5 million views on Douyin, was recorded by the boy's father about five days before his mother passed away.

Cun Caituan lost 20kg in just one month.

The little boy lay beside his mother, innocently asking why she wasn't talking to him. His mother simply gently placed her hand on his face and said, "Go to sleep."

Despite all efforts to treat her, the boy's mother could not overcome the disease. On October 17th, the boy's father announced his wife's passing on his Douyin account, which has 200,000 followers.

He said that in his mother's final months, the boy seemed to understand that she was about to leave him. From a child who used to cry and demand hugs, he gradually matured, learning to take care of his mother, giving her water and massaging her when she was tired.

The boy's parents met in 2017. Two years later, they got married and welcomed their first son in 2020.
