Hiep Binh High School (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) has sent an urgent notice to each parent of 12th grade students about bad guys taking advantage of students registering for the high school graduation exam.
"Hiep Binh High School has received information: Parents of 12th grade students received text messages/calls from strangers informing them that they need to adjust their students' high school graduation exam registration information by following the request to update a strange link... After logging in, money was lost from their personal account.
The school recommends: Parents should not follow the requests of strangers. All information is communicated through the school's official channels and through homeroom teachers to parents and students directly. The school absolutely does not ask parents to provide personal information via calls or links of unknown origin. The work of checking and signing the registration form is carried out by the school directly with students at school."
The leader of Hiep Binh High School said that on May 6, according to the records of the homeroom teacher of grade 12, about 5 parents of grade 12 students said that they received a phone call claiming to be a school employee, informing them that the information of students registering for the high school graduation exam was incorrect, the student's ID card needed to be updated to level 2 to supplement the profile and urgent procedures within the day. Then, the parents were asked to contact a phone number provided by this subject and introduced the contact of the ward police to support parents in adjusting and updating. Some parents said they would go directly to the ward police to work.
However, a parent was so worried about his child that he followed the request of the impersonator and called the provided phone number. Immediately after calling this phone number, another person claimed to be a police officer and instructed the parent to install a level 2 CCCD for their child by updating the link provided by this person. When the parent clicked on this link, they were asked to scan their face. Immediately after the parent scanned their face, all the money in the parent's account was deducted. Only then did the parent realize that he had been scammed. Immediately after that, in addition to notifying the school, the parent also reported to the police.
Previously, in mid-April, regarding the enrollment of students for the 2025-2026 school year, a number of schools and districts in Ho Chi Minh City also issued warnings about a form of fraud impersonating school principals, calling parents of students with the reason of "requesting confirmation of level 2 identification codes for students" to serve the enrollment work. These subjects asked parents to provide personal information via strange links, leading to the appropriation of bank accounts, e-wallets, etc.
