Giving gifts to international students on the occasion of the traditional New Year 2025
Specifically, AG University has 3 international students from the 2019-2024 course from Champasak province, Laos); 5 international students from the 2023-2028 course from Champasak province, studying Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance - Banking, International Economics ; 13 international students from the 2020-2025 course from Kandal, Takeo, Battambang provinces (Cambodia), studying Food Technology, Plant Protection, and Veterinary Animal Husbandry.
According to Dr. Nguyen Huu Tri (Vice Principal of AGU), the school always cares about and supports international students by regularly organizing regular meetings and listening to their stories about their studies and lives. “The close coordination between relevant units in the school and agencies of An Giang province has created a favorable learning and living environment for international students. In particular, we always create conditions for students to participate in traditional cultural activities, such as Laos's Bunpimay New Year, the traditional New Year of Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as many other diverse cultural exchange activities, helping them feel the warmth and closeness of being in their homeland...” - Dr. Nguyen Huu Tri shared.
Most international students show diligence and great effort in their studies, quickly integrating into the new living environment. Although they initially encountered many difficulties due to the language barrier, when they only had a short time to study Vietnamese before entering the university program entirely in Vietnamese, they have made encouraging progress, achieving relatively good academic results. In addition to studying in class, international students also actively participate in cultural exchange activities and movements organized by the school, contributing to enriching the spiritual life and enhancing mutual understanding between students from different countries.
“Language difficulties, especially for specialized subjects, are still a big challenge for international students, due to the limited time to study Vietnamese. Differences in language and culture also pose certain challenges in the teaching, learning and communication process between students and lecturers from the three countries. Therefore, the school hopes that candidates selected to study in Vietnam in the future will be equipped with solid basic Vietnamese knowledge before arriving, creating a better foundation for studying and living in Vietnam...” - Dr. Nguyen Huu Tri said.
In order to strengthen international cooperation in the field of education, AG University has established partnerships with universities and research institutes in Laos and Cambodia. In 2010, the school signed a memorandum of cooperation with Champasak University (Laos), opening up opportunities for lecturer and student exchanges, research cooperation, training and organizing seminars. In 2013, the school continued to sign a memorandum of cooperation with Bright Hope Institute (Cambodia), renewed in 2019, focusing on university-level training for students introduced by the Institute, supporting the Institute to visit agricultural enterprises in An Giang, and seminars on agriculture, education and environment.
In particular, in 2019, the school signed a memorandum of cooperation with Battambang University (Cambodia), expected to be renewed in 2025, expanding cooperation activities, including: Exchange of academic publications, documents, sharing of textbooks, development of common courses and programs; exchange of teaching and research staff; exchange of students for short-term internship programs; development of collaborative research projects.
Dr. Nguyen Huu Tri emphasized: “Up to now, the school has implemented many practical support policies, such as awarding scholarships to Lao and Cambodian students. Comprehensive care and support not only helps students feel secure in their studies, but also contributes to fostering solidarity between Vietnamese students and students from other countries in the context of increasingly deep international integration. At the same time, this is also an effective form of propaganda and education about the traditional friendship between Vietnam and neighboring countries, between An Giang province and international partners”.
AG University has been implementing many regular university training courses under the friendship scholarship program between An Giang, Takeo, Kandal, Battambang and Champasak provinces. Since 2010, the school has trained 61 Cambodian students and 27 Lao students. After graduation, the students return to their home countries, bringing with them the valuable knowledge and skills they have learned, contributing to the development of their own countries. |
