Full and beautiful offerings for the Duanwu Festival: Netizens compete to share

This morning, June 10 (the 5th day of the 5th lunar month), many people are preparing offerings for the Duanwu Festival to present to their ancestors. Social media is filled with beautiful and solemn offerings.

Ms. Cao Thanh Thuy (31 years old, in Ha Dong District, Hanoi ) said that she likes to decorate, so every year since she got married, she prepares a tray of offerings for the Duan Ngo Festival. The tray includes cakes, rice wine, and lotus flowers. To decorate, she uses lotus leaves as a background and chooses the folded-petal Quan Am lotus flower because it is durable and does not need to be placed in water for a whole day without getting ugly.

"When I was a child in the countryside, on the Doan Ngo Festival, people often ate fruit after waking up, usually lychees picked from the trees in their gardens. When I grew up and went out to study and work, I saw that many places also offered rice wine, banh gio and many other things," said Ms. Thuy.

She said that according to Vietnamese tradition, Doan Ngo Festival is an important holiday with the meaning of destroying pests that destroy crops.
