Focus all resources

By supporting livelihoods, facilitating people's access to preferential capital, and promoting the transformation of the economy into a high-value model, Gia Lam has a solid foundation to continuously improve the material and spiritual lives of its people.

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lam commune, Nguyen Van Hoi, said: Under the leadership and guidance of the Party Committee, the Fatherland Front of the commune always closely follows the political tasks of the locality, focusing all resources to effectively implement patriotic emulation movements and campaigns, most notably the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas".

Recognizing that capital is a prerequisite for helping near-poor and disadvantaged households rise out of poverty, the Fatherland Front of Gia Lam commune and its member organizations have closely coordinated with local authorities and financial institutions to effectively mobilize and manage preferential loan capital.

According to the summary report, by the end of 2025, through the socio-political organizations of the commune, 2,222 households had borrowed capital from the Social Policy Bank and the Farmers' Support Fund with a total amount of VND 153.593 billion, of which capital from the Social Policy Bank accounted for VND 147.663 billion, for 2,099 households. This is an important capital channel helping people invest in production and business, create jobs and improve their quality of life. In particular, the member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front have done a good job in entrusting, supervising and managing the capital, ensuring that the capital reaches the right recipients and purposes, and preventing overdue debts.

According to Hoang Thi Thuy Nga, Chairwoman of the Gia Lam Commune Women's Union, the Union has managed a total outstanding loan balance of 69.2 billion VND for 977 borrowing households. In managing capital, the Union always ensures that loan approval processes are conducted correctly, with no outstanding or overdue debts, demonstrating strictness and high responsibility.

Meanwhile, the Farmers' Association of the commune – the main unit in supporting production – has managed the Farmers' Support Fund with a total of 5.93 billion VND for 123 households (through 12 projects), and also managed the Social Policy Bank with a total outstanding loan of 66.297 billion VND for 915 households. The Veterans' Association of the commune also actively participated by managing a total of 12.166 billion VND in preferential loans for 207 households.

To support this transformation, the Farmers' Association has proactively established 9 new professional farmers' groups with 122 members, along with 1 professional farmers' branch with 17 members, aiming to gather, share experiences and knowledge, and apply science and technology in production, creating a value chain and enhancing the competitiveness of local agricultural products.

Diversification of funding sources and the coordinated involvement of various organizations have created a robust "financial safety net," providing timely resources to enable people to proactively improve their lives, rather than relying solely on subsidies.

Besides providing capital, the Gia Lam Fatherland Front's sustainable poverty eradication efforts also focus on guiding and supporting people in transforming their economic structure towards the application of science, technology, and advanced techniques, creating higher economic value. This is a strategic step, consistent with the commune's orientation towards developing a civilized urban area.

A highlight is the model of specialized orange and pomelo cultivation in Lot 2 and Lot 4 of Thuan Quang and Thuan Tien villages. This area, covering approximately 30 hectares and comprising 22 orchards, has adopted advanced production processes, resulting in high yields. Estimated production reaches 50 tons of fruit per hectare, generating an estimated revenue of 1 billion VND per hectare annually. The success of this model not only improves the lives of participating households but also provides valuable experience and motivation for replicating other effective economic models in the area.

Ensuring social security

Social welfare work, one of the key tasks of the Gia Lam Fatherland Front, has been implemented with a high sense of responsibility, reflecting the nation's tradition of gratitude, mutual support, and compassion. The total amount of money raised for various funds in 2025 reached over 4.895 billion VND, exceeding the set target. Of this, the Fund for the Poor received 981.123 million VND.

During the "For the Poor" campaign month and the commemoration of the Fatherland Front's traditional day, the commune distributed 223 gifts worth 226 million VND to near-poor households and households with difficult circumstances; and distributed 235 gifts worth 115.8 million VND on the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27th...

At the Great Unity Festival, villages and residential areas in the commune presented 345 gifts, worth 83.35 million VND, to near-poor households and those in difficult circumstances, and honored outstanding collectives and individuals in 2025...

The commune's Veterans Association effectively implemented the movement "Veterans unite, help each other develop the economy, sustainably reduce poverty and engage in charitable activities" to improve living standards; organized activities such as "Paying gratitude" and "Comradeship"; visited and presented gifts to relatives of martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, meritorious people, policy beneficiary families, and members with particularly difficult circumstances, donating 58 gifts worth 35 million VND; and mobilized members to support the fund for people affected by storms and floods with an amount exceeding 155 million VND.

Furthermore, the people of Gia Lam commune demonstrated a profound spirit of sharing, supporting the people in the provinces affected by Typhoon No. 10 with over 1.63 billion VND and supporting the people in Central and Central Highlands regions with over 2.28 billion VND, along with many other essential supplies. In particular, the Youth Union of the commune actively participated in this activity, mobilizing over 144 million VND in cash and many other items worth nearly 125 million VND to support the people in overcoming the damage caused by Typhoon No. 10. The commune's Trade Union also donated 412.724 million VND to the Fatherland Front of the commune to contribute to the Fund for the Poor and support the people affected by the typhoon and floods.

These actions demonstrate that Gia Lam's social welfare work is comprehensive, ranging from supporting economic development to caring for policy beneficiaries and sharing with people in need.

Harnessing the strength of mass organizations.

To ensure that poverty eradication is not just about addressing temporary difficulties but becomes a sustainable series of actions, the Fatherland Front of Gia Lam commune has promoted innovation in its operational methods, enhanced the role of each member organization, and integrated social welfare activities with the overall socio-economic development goals of the locality.

Sustainable poverty eradication efforts in Gia Lam are not only based on macroeconomic programs, but also built upon humane, concrete models that are close to the people. A prime example is the "Godmother" model of the Women's Union of the commune, a prominent activity demonstrating deep concern for the future generation. The Union has sponsored seven children with particularly difficult circumstances (fatherless), providing monthly financial support of 500,000 VND per child. This support is not only materially significant but also a great source of encouragement, giving the children more motivation to continue their studies and development.

For example, the Veterans Association has raised over 42 million VND through social mobilization to create a security camera system, installing 36 cameras and contributing to ensuring social order and safety at the local level.

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lam commune, Nguyen Van Hoi, stated: In 2026, the Gia Lam commune Fatherland Front Committee will continue to set the goal of building a comprehensively developed society, especially focusing on poverty eradication and ensuring safety and civilization. Movements such as "All citizens protect national security" and "All citizens participate in crime and social vice prevention and control" will continue to be effectively implemented.

The efforts of the Fatherland Front of Gia Lam commune have created a dynamic Gia Lam, where poverty eradication is seen as a livelihood creation process, not just as an act of relief, but also as supporting people to have the capacity and conditions to rise up independently and enjoy the common fruits of their labor...
