Mazda CX-5 2026 is about to come to Vietnam and launch in its home country of Japan

At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Mazda provided a close-up look at the 2026 CX-5 with notable changes in design, technology and performance.

At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Mazda officially launched the third generation of the popular crossover CX-5. The new version marks an important transformation of this car line, with comprehensive changes from appearance, interior to operating technology.

Compared to the previous generation, the 2026 Mazda CX-5 has a more elegant and modern appearance, reflecting the "Kodo - Soul of Motion" design direction refined towards luxury. The body is elongated, the proportions are more balanced, creating a feeling closer to high-end European SUVs.

According to the manufacturer, the 2026 CX-5 has an overall length of 4,690 mm, width of 1,860 mm, height of 1,695 mm and a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. This size is significantly increased compared to the previous generation.

The change in size not only makes the overall car more impressive but also significantly improves the interior space, especially the rear seat area. Passengers enjoy spacious legroom and a more comfortable feeling when traveling long distances.

Inside, the cabin of the 2026 Mazda CX-5 clearly shows a shift to a minimalist, modern style. The center of the dashboard is a large 15.6-inch touchscreen, integrated with the latest entertainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The fully digital dashboard replaces the traditional analog type, providing a more intuitive interactive experience for the driver. The newly designed 3-spoke steering wheel comes with a modern flat Mazda logo. The decorative details use soft materials and matte metal, making the interior space more luxurious.

Some other high-end equipment on the Mazda CX-5 2026 such as panoramic sunroof, heated rear seats and 3-zone independent air conditioning are also added on the high-end version, although they may not appear in the Vietnamese market in the first phase.

Mazda continues to pursue the philosophy of "Joy of Driving" when equipping the CX-5 2026 with a 2.5L e-SKYACTIV G gasoline engine combined with a mild hybrid system, producing 187 horsepower and 251 Nm of torque. The car uses a 6-speed automatic transmission combined with a full-time four-wheel drive system (AWD).

The MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension deliver a ride that balances comfort and sportiness . Active safety and driver assistance technologies are also strong, with the i-ACTIVSENSE package and ADAS advanced driver assistance systems fitted as standard.

The new generation Mazda CX-5 will go on sale in Europe in late 2025, followed by the US, Japan and other markets including Vietnam from early 2026. In addition, Mazda also confirmed that it will launch the all-new hybrid powertrain SKYACTIV Z Hybrid in 2027.
