According to Neowin , like its predecessors for Windows 11, 21H2 and 22H2, version 23H2 will receive active support for two years with cumulative updates, bug fixes, and new features released monthly. Windows 11 21H2 support expired early last month, while Microsoft will end support for version 22H2 on October 4, 2024.
The 23H2 update has officially been released to Windows 11 users.
In its announcement, Microsoft also stated that it will provide service support for the Enterprise and Education versions of Windows 11 23H2, while the Home and Pro versions will receive 24 months of support.
Despite being touted as a major update to Windows 11, version 23H2 seems to have little to offer if users have already installed the Moment 4 update. The biggest changes users notice after installing Windows 11 23H2 are the lack of Cortana and the old Mail app (which has been replaced by the new Outlook). Additionally, the Chat app is no longer pinned to the taskbar, replaced by Microsoft Teams.
If users upgrade to 23H2 from older Windows 11 or Windows 10 updates, the latest release will bring many new features, such as a redesigned volume mixer, an upgraded taskbar, a new File Explorer with RAR support, native RGB controls in the Settings app, Windows Copilot, improvements to Photos and Paint, and the Windows Backup app.
Users can download Windows 11 23H2 from Microsoft's official website, where the company provides direct links to ISO files and the Media Creation Tool application to create a bootable USB installer. Alternatively, go to Windows Update, enable the "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" option, and then check for available updates.
