From the evening and night of May 23 to the night of May 24, in the North Central region, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 40-100mm, locally over 150mm.
The heaviest rain is likely to occur in the following provinces: the southern part of Son La and Hoa Binh provinces, the Viet Bac and Northeast provinces (including provinces such as Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang , Cao Bang, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong,...) of the North.
Notably, the Hydrometeorological Agency warned that during this period of rain, heavy rain in 1-3 hours can reach 100mm, or more than 100mm, which will greatly affect the risk of flash floods and landslides.
It is necessary to be on guard against floods, inundation of urban areas and low-lying areas; flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas. The northern provinces have just experienced a heavy rain, so in mountainous areas such as Bac Kan , Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, ... the soil and rocks are saturated with water, so the risk of landslides is still high. People need to be on guard against landslides to avoid causing damage to people and property.
Tornadoes, lightning, strong winds accompanied by hail can break trees, electric poles, and rip off roofs; lightning strikes can cause fires, explosions, or casualties.
