The model of "Buddhists of Van Phuoc Pagoda self-managing security and order" has promoted positive effects.

Responding to the movement of All people protecting national security, many parishes and Buddhist establishments in the province have actively mobilized parishioners and Buddhists to participate through the construction of self-management models of security and order (SOT). In Ninh Da ward, Ninh Hoa town, the model of "Buddhists of Van Phuoc pagoda self-management of SOT" has been newly established and operated for more than 1 year but has contributed to ensuring SOT in residential areas.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Thu Thuy - Head of Ninh Da Ward Police said that Van Phuoc Pagoda is located in Ha Thanh 1 Residential Group, currently has about 200 Buddhists participating in activities. Previously, the security and order situation around the pagoda area was quite complicated. Young people in the area often gathered here to have fun, from which many problems arose that affected security and order such as: burning firecrackers, fighting... Through verification work of the local police force, these young people were mostly children and grandchildren of Buddhists currently practicing at the pagoda. Faced with that situation, in 2024, Ninh Da Ward Police advised the local government to build a model of "Buddhists of Van Phuoc Pagoda self-managing security and order". The model aims to promote the role of the Board of Directors of Van Phuoc Pagoda in mobilizing people to practice religion without violating the law, and to have a sense of responsibility in participating in ensuring security and order. At the same time, coordinate the dissemination of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws to Buddhists and families.

Ninh Da Ward Police regularly meet and exchange information about security and order with the Board of Directors of Van Phuoc Pagoda.

After the model was established, every full moon or first day of the lunar month, when a large number of Buddhists in Ninh Da ward gather at Van Phuoc pagoda for activities, in addition to disseminating andeducating Buddhism, the abbot of Van Phuoc pagoda will coordinate with the ward police force to propagate the security and order situation in the area. At the same time, mobilize Buddhists to actively participate in preventing and fighting against crimes. In the past, a lot of information related to the security and order situation has been conveyed to Buddhists through activities at the pagoda such as: Methods and tricks of fraudsters operating on cyberspace; measures to prevent theft and robbery; prevention and control of trading, manufacturing and using firecrackers during Tet...

In addition, Ninh Da Ward Police also coordinated propaganda and mobilized Buddhists to respond to the implementation of the tasks of Project 06 of the Government such as: Installing level 2 electronic identification; updating health insurance cards, electronic health books on the VNeID application. “When coming to the pagoda, the Pagoda Board also disseminated many issues related to security and order. Most of that information was very useful, so we all accepted and followed it. In addition, we also went back to propagate to our relatives, friends, and neighbors to know and implement in order to contribute to building a better and better life”, Ms. Le Thi Bich Phuong - a Buddhist at Van Phuoc Pagoda shared.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Thu Thuy, after 1 year of operation, the model has shown positive results, making many important contributions to ensuring security and order in the locality. The situation of young people gathering to quarrel, fight or set off firecrackers around the pagoda area has disappeared. In particular, the awareness of self-defense, self-management, and the spirit of participating in the fight against crime of Buddhists has been increasingly enhanced. People are also more interested in educating their children to live a "good life and good religion", without committing any violations of the law. Thanks to that, the security and order situation in the area has had clear changes. Through the model, it also contributes to strengthening the solidarity and close relationship between Buddhists, while promoting the movement of the People Protecting National Security among religious people to develop strongly.
