On May 1, Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare opened their second pharmacy in Tokyo, Japan. These are the first two clinic-pharmacy operators licensed to provide online medical examination services for Vietnamese people in Japan.

According to a VNA reporter in Tokyo, originally a pharmaceutical and cosmetic distributor for hospitals and clinics, Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare have become leading community healthcare models, supporting health insurance for hundreds of thousands of patients in Japan.

With more than a decade of development, Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare have supported more than 80,000 patients, providing free COVID-19 treatment to more than 10,000 Vietnamese and foreigners in Japan.

Since 2021, Mori Pharmacy has opened a clinic and pharmacy dispensing prescription drugs at Otsuka Station, Ikebukuro Ward, Tokyo.

When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in Japan, during the most stressful period from the end of 2021 to the end of 2022, many Vietnamese people in Japan, mostly trainees working in rural areas, mountainous areas... far from urban areas, found it difficult to find medical facilities and buy prescription drugs.

In addition, another reason why Vietnamese workers have difficulty is that they cannot communicate well in Japanese, so they face many limitations when going to the doctor.

In this context, Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare have applied for a license to provide online medical examination services at the clinic-pharmacy at Otsuka Station, becoming the first clinic-pharmacy to provide online medical examinations for Vietnamese people in Japan.

In parallel with the implementation of online medical examination services, Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare also implement free medical interpretation services, helping to remove language barriers for Vietnamese people who are not yet proficient in Japanese.

Another advantage of Mori Pharmacy is that it dispenses prescription drugs that are covered by health insurance, meaning that for those using Japanese health insurance, medical examination and medication fees will be reduced by 70%, even up to 90%.

This is the factor that makes Mori Pharmacy's clinic-pharmacy not only become an address for Vietnamese people in Japan but also a place where many foreigners in Japan such as students from Myanmar and China come to see a doctor and buy medicine.

With the advantage of being a clinic-pharmacy recognized by the Japanese healthcare system, Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare also support Vietnamese people living in Japan to call hospital ambulances for free.

According to the regulations of the Japanese healthcare system, calling an ambulance from a higher-level hospital is done according to the procedure where the patient must have a certificate of medical condition issued by a lower-level clinic or the patient must pay an additional fee if there is no certificate from a lower-level clinic.

During the COVID-19 pandemic from late 2021 to late 2022, understanding the difficult situation of Vietnamese trainees, Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare provided medical examinations and free medicine to about 10,000 Vietnamese people living in remote areas of Japan.

Mr. Ngo Quoc Hung, a Vietnamese living in Tokyo, expressed his emotion when Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare examined him online and provided him with free medicine during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022.

He said that in the context of many pharmacies stopping seeing patients for fear of spreading COVID-19 and his own lack of Japanese proficiency, the announcement in July 2022 by Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare posted on the company's fanpage about online medical examination and free medicine distribution was truly a "savior" for him as well as many other Vietnamese people in Japan during difficult times.

Thanks to their effective contributions to the community, in November 2023, Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare surpassed more than 10,000 pharmacies across Japan to receive the “Community Pharmacy Award 2023.”

To date, Mori Healthcare and Mori Pharmacy have a system of health care and consultation, online medical examination and prescription with Japanese doctors, with two main branches in Tokyo, distributing more than 200 types of pharmaceuticals and cosmetic products.

In addition, Mori Healthcare and Mori Pharmacy also provide legal advice and connections for foreigners in Japan who have problems with psychology, employment and rights.

Mori Healthcare and Mori Pharmacy are also on track to expand and grow strongly on a global scale with the next destinations being Taiwan (China), the US, South Korea and many other countries.

The company will continue to pursue its mission of providing high-quality, affordable medical services to patients facing barriers to accessing Japanese medical services; providing Japanese pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and high-tech medical examination and treatment technologies on a global scale.

With the opening of the second duty-free pharmacy, Mori Pharmacy aims to not only serve the community in Japan but also expand to Vietnamese people who wish to access Japanese pharmaceutical products.

Ms. Le Thuy Tien, Director of Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare, said that the most valuable thing that she and the doctors, pharmacists and staff of Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare received was the love of the Vietnamese community.

Many messages from Vietnamese people in Japan expressing their gratitude for the timely support have been sent to Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare.

She affirmed that Mori Pharmacy and Mori Healthcare will strive to improve with the goal of contributing more to the community./.
