Held in the context of the science and technology sector focusing on implementing Resolution 57 of the Politburo , this year's Science and Technology Festival has the participation of hundreds of domestic and foreign scientists and technology experts, along with representatives of management agencies.

At the event, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung shared about the orientations for science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation in the coming time. At the same time, the Ministry of Science and Technology announced the action program of the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (Nafosted).

"Vital" factors for rapid and sustainable development

After visiting the exhibition displaying the results of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation of start-up enterprises, institutes, schools and listening to the opinions of scientists , science and technology enterprises, management agencies, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung sent to scientists, science managers, officials, civil servants, workers of the Ministry of Science and Technology and all people who love science and are passionate about research his warmest greetings and best wishes on the occasion of Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18).

At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked the companionship and dedication of generations of scientists, scientific managers, and the business community to the cause of developing science and technology and innovation in the country during the past period.

Emphasizing that science and technology play a "leading breakthrough" role, a "main driving force" to restructure the economy, establish a new growth model and turn Vietnam into a developed, high-income country by 2045, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed pride in the great contributions of science and technology and innovation in the cause of national liberation, construction and defense. From technical initiatives serving the battlefield to great construction works; from basic scientific research to strong breakthroughs in the Global Innovation Index over the past period.

"In particular, the field of social sciences has always been the "torch" that illuminates the theory for the formulation of guidelines and policies of the Party and State, while affirming the identity and cultural values ​​of the Vietnamese people. Those achievements are vivid proof of the intelligence, passion and dedication of the Vietnamese intellectual team," the Deputy Prime Minister shared.

In the context of many great challenges, but at the same time a "golden opportunity" for Vietnam to make a breakthrough, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the Party, State and Government have identified science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as the shortest path, a vital factor for Vietnam to realize its aspiration for rapid, sustainable, inclusive and self-reliant development to successfully achieve the two 100-year goals.

Science, technology and innovation are not only the driving force for economic growth, but also the foundation for building a prosperous Vietnam; they are strategic tools to improve labor productivity, protect the environment, respond to climate change, and improve the quality of people's lives.

Promoting that spirit, in the coming time, the Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries, branches, localities and the community of experts and scientists to focus on synchronously implementing breakthrough tasks and solutions.

That is: Continuing to perfect institutions, creating an open and transparent legal corridor to "untie" the field of science and technology and innovation; developing a national innovation ecosystem in a comprehensive direction; promoting basic research activities to master strategic technologies and core technologies; developing high-quality human resources for the field of science and technology; promoting the application of science and technology in all areas of the economy; promoting scientific diplomacy, proactively integrating deeply into the international community in science and technology and innovation; enhancing the role of standards, measurement and quality; arousing passion for science and technology and innovation throughout society.

Emphasizing the need to turn Vietnam Science and Technology Day into a truly national festival, where every citizen and business can contribute to and enjoy the fruits of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation", the Deputy Prime Minister believes that with a tradition of 66 years of construction and development, along with a team of dedicated and capable officials and scientists, the Ministry of Science and Technology will continue to be the leading flag in the strategic breakthrough career, bringing Vietnam firmly on the path to becoming a developed, high-income, rich and powerful country by 2045./.
