MU rejected Chelsea's 65 million euro 'blockbuster'

MU rejected the opportunity to recruit Romeo Lavia after Chelsea offered to include the young midfielder as part of the Alejandro Garnacho deal in the summer of 2025.

MU is not interested in the Lavia deal.

According to ESPN , Chelsea proposed Lavia as a swap option to reduce the amount of cash they would have to spend when pursuing Garnacho. However, MU immediately said no because of concerns about the Belgian's extensive injury history.

Lavia was signed by Chelsea from Southampton in 2023 for a fee of up to 65 million euros, after a fierce race with Liverpool. But since then, his career at Stamford Bridge has been confined to the hospital bed more than on the pitch. The 21-year-old midfielder has played just 29 games, missed 88, and has not even played 90 minutes for Chelsea.

However, in the rare moments when he was healthy, Lavia still showed the potential of one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe. Chelsea therefore wanted to take advantage of him to reduce the cost of recruiting Garnacho. In the end, "The Blues" still had to pay 40 million pounds for the Garnacho deal.

The news of MU rejecting Lavia came just a week after the player suffered a torn quadriceps and had to leave the field after just four minutes of Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Qarabag in the Champions League.

The source also said that Lavia is not the only name Chelsea wants to push to Old Trafford in the summer. Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson are also on the list of offers from Stamford Bridge, but both were rejected by MU.
