| Song Cai Lake reached an elevation of 194.11m, exceeding the design water level by 1.31m, with 5 gates open, discharging nearly 674m³/s through the spillway. |
According to monitoring data at 06:00 on November 17, the average full level of the entire system reached 97.6% of the design capacity, which is at a very high level; 17/25 lakes were full and exceeded 100%. Of which, Song Cai Lake (the largest lake in the province) reached an elevation of 194.11m, exceeding the design water level by 1.31m, with 5 gates open, discharging through the spillway nearly 674m³/s. Tra Co, Phuoc Trung, Ba Rau, Nuoc Ngot and Ong Kinh lakes were all full of water, freely overflowing from 25-60cm, with discharge flow from 20 to more than 100m³/s. Particularly, Nuoc Ngot Lake in Vinh Hai commune freely overflowed 256cm, through the spillway 418.33m³/s, causing great pressure on the downstream area.
The management unit said that heavy rains in recent days have caused water levels in streams, canals and drainage systems to rise rapidly. Some low-lying areas and residential roads in the communes of Vinh Hai, Phuoc Ha and Thuan Bac have been partially flooded, posing a potential safety risk to people and vehicles.
Warning: In the coming time, if the rain continues, the risk of flash floods and landslides in steep mountainous areas, especially on the Cong Hai - Bac Ai route and along streams is very high. The unit recommends that people do not travel through overflows and fast-flowing streams; local authorities need to closely monitor the flood discharge situation and proactively plan evacuations in risky areas. Ninh Thuan Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited continues to be on duty 24/7, updating reservoir water levels and coordinating with authorities to ensure the safety of the works and downstream areas.
