Male worker single-handedly innovates technology, making hundreds of billions in profit

Over the past years, worker Duong Thanh Ha (Prime Ngoi Viet Joint Stock Company, Vinh Phuc province) has had many initiatives, bringing benefits to the company up to 207 billion VND.

Ten years ago, while inspecting machinery in the workshop, he had an accident at work and his right arm was severed. Once a healthy person, he was now unable to perform even basic activities.

Not accepting the current situation, Mr. Ha tried to practice, stabilize his health, and return to work at the factory. He trained his left arm to be able to do everything skillfully, from writing, typing to controlling technical equipment...

During his work, he always wanted to improve technology, make machines work more efficiently and ensure labor safety. Mr. Hai improved the gas pipeline after increasing pressure from a zigzag path to a diagonal path, creating positive pressure. This initiative benefits the company 1.4 billion VND per year.

Not only that, he was also the one who converted the system from 17 pumps to 3. Of which, only 1 pump running with an automatic valve can still create a common water line with the same capacity as the original.

Another example of creative labor is Mr. Truong Phuong Nam, Team Leader, Mechanical Workshop, Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant (PetroVietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer Joint Stock Company), who has many initiatives, directly applied to production activities to bring practical benefits to the company.

From 2018 to 2023, 1 topic and 21 of his initiatives were applied in practice, generating a profit of 20 billion VND and the company promptly awarded him 480 million VND. The Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Awards have recognized his efforts in the work he is pursuing.

Mr. Ha and Mr. Nam are two of 167 workers who received the 4th Nguyen Duc Canh Award organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on the morning of July 24.

Nguyen Duc Canh Award aims to honor workers directly involved in production at units and enterprises of all economic sectors, with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Good workers, Creative workers" launched by the Trade Union.

Speaking at the award ceremony, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang said that despite differences in field of work, age, career, working conditions, family circumstances, etc., the individuals receiving the Nguyen Duc Canh Award this time all have one thing in common - perseverance, tenacity, enthusiastic and creative working spirit, aspiration to contribute, passion for researching technical innovation, and promoting initiatives in production.

"As dedicated workers, the typical examples receiving the Nguyen Duc Canh award are also teachers and close colleagues in the group, team, workshop, and department, always caring, encouraging, sharing, guiding, nurturing, and motivating the team of young, newly-hired workers and laborers to quickly master their skills and techniques, absorb and master advanced science and technology...", Mr. Khang emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, hopes that the 167 outstanding workers who were awarded the prize will continue to promote the spirit of pride in the intellectual mettle of Vietnamese workers, actively study, improve their skills, apply scientific and technological advances, have many innovations, creativity, many initiatives to improve techniques, processes, and operations to improve labor productivity and product quality; always strive and responsibly complete assigned tasks excellently.
