Victim exposes the "easy job, high salary" trap in Cambodia

"There, all I got was electrocuted and human trafficking" - These are the bitter shares of Mr. NQL, a victim of the "trap of going to Cambodia to do light work with high salary" with the Lien Huong Commune Police (Lam Dong) when he just returned.

Recently, Lien Huong Commune Police coordinated with Department PA08, Lam Dong Provincial Police, to receive 3 local citizens who were deported from Cambodia. The 3 citizens include: NQL (born in 1996), DPVU (born in 2000) and NTMT (born in 1997), all 3 residing in Lien Huong Commune.

After returning to their hometown safely and stabilizing their mental and physical health, Lien Huong Commune Police worked with the victims of the scam of "going to Cambodia to do light work with high salaries". During the working process, these 3 citizens said that through social networking sites, they were lured by brokers with promises of "light work, high salaries" with incomes of up to several tens of millions of VND per month.

But after arriving in Cambodia, they were taken to a fraud center, had their phones confiscated, were controlled and forced to create fake social media accounts to defraud and appropriate people's property.

According to Mr. NQL, when he arrived in Cambodia, the subjects gave him 7 social media accounts. Then, they assigned him the task of using these social media sites and posting fake photos of successful businessmen and flirting with women between the ages of 35 and 45.

After 3 days of work, because his conscience did not allow it, Mr. NQL asked for leave and agreed to pay compensation to go home. But the subjects did not agree and dragged Mr. NQL out to electrocute him and take him to another place.

This shows the lack of conscience of the subjects. In the past, when the victims did not work and pay compensation for the contract, the subjects would return them, but now the subjects have changed, determined to force the victims into the path of crime.

Mr. NQL advises young people not to believe in invitations to do "easy work, high salary"

Young people should not believe the "easy work, high salary" on social networks anymore. That does not exist. There is only electrocution and human trafficking.

Mr. NQL shared

As for Ms. NTMT, when she returned home, she regretted what she had done. “At that time, I thought how foolish I was. I believed people's sweet words, wanted an easy job with a high salary, so I was deceived like that. At that time, I could only cry, missing my family and my children," Ms. NTMT shared.

Having a child who is one of the three victims mentioned above, Mrs. HTNL could not hide her emotions when she was able to welcome her child back home. “When my child called, he said he did not meet the target, was electrocuted and called for help, the family was very confused and did not know where he was to bring him back. Fortunately, thanks to the intervention of the police, my child is now safely back home,” Mrs. HTNL shared.

The above 3 citizens are also the first cases in Lien Huong commune to fall into the trap of "easy work, high salary", being forced to work illegally in Cambodia.

"After receiving information from the Provincial Police about cases of local people being tricked into going to Cambodia, the Commune Police force urgently coordinated to verify their identities, as a basis for the Provincial Police to receive them back from Cambodia," said Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Minh Xuan, Deputy Head of the Lieng Huong Commune Police, Lam Dong Province.

Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Minh Xuan added that currently, online fraud, tricking people to go to Cambodia is a hot issue in the area. Therefore, people are advised to be vigilant, manage their children, and not let them be tricked into going to Cambodia. When detecting scammers, people should report to the commune police force or the nearest police agency for timely handling.

The trap of “easy work, high salary” is not a new scam and has been widely publicized by the authorities in recent times. However, there are still some people, especially young people, who are lured by these subjects, partly due to their complacency in vigilance. This also shows that the methods of scamming and luring by these subjects have changed and become more sophisticated.
