On the evening of November 6, storm Kalmaegi made landfall in the two provinces of Gia Lai and Dak Lak , with strong winds of level 10, gusts of level 14, causing continuous heavy rain and violent gusts.

The storm blew down numerous trees on many major roads and toppled many electric poles, paralyzing the power system in large areas. Roofs, signs, and household items were blown far out onto the road. Many people panicked when they saw their houses flooded, their roofs blown off, and even collapsed.

That very night, when the storm showed signs of weakening, following the direction of the Forward Command Center, the rescue force of the Provincial Police and the police of the communes and wards immediately conducted a review and approached the heavily damaged areas to assist people in overcoming the consequences.

In heavy rain and strong winds, Dak Lak police officers and soldiers still waded through mud to clear thousands of fallen trees, clearing traffic jams on major roads, ensuring the safety of rescue vehicles and people.

In addition, the working groups also quickly went to each locality to promptly rescue trapped people, help and support families whose houses had their roofs blown off or collapsed; and coordinate with functional units to repair damaged welfare facilities, schools, and medical stations.
