Improving the quality of child health care

From the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and the province's directions, the Vinh Phuc Health sector has proactively concretized them into programs and action plans suitable to local realities.

Investment in infrastructure has been focused on, the healthcare system from the province to the grassroots has been upgraded; at the same time, the medical staff has been trained and developed in expertise and skills, creating a solid foundation for effective implementation of child health care and protection.

Reproductive health care for pregnant women has been effectively implemented, creating the premise to improve the quality of the population right from the womb. The rate of prenatal check-ups at least 4 times during pregnancy reached 99.9%, 93% of mothers and newborns received proper postnatal care.

Identifying nutrition as the foundation for children's comprehensive development, the health sector has promoted nutrition communication in the community, providing mothers with knowledge about a reasonable and scientific diet according to their children's age. Thanks to that, the rate of malnutrition, stunting and underweight has decreased gradually each year, and the physical condition and stature of children have improved.

Expanded immunization programs have been implemented systematically, achieving a high rate of more than 95% of children being fully vaccinated according to regulations. Special attention is paid to disease prevention and control for children.

During the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, the provincial health sector promptly deployed vaccinations for children of the right age according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health ; at the same time, actively cared for infected children, preventing any deaths.

Hospitals and medical facilities all focus on improving professional quality, taking treatment effectiveness and patient satisfaction as the center of service. As a medical facility specializing in obstetrics and pediatrics, the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital constantly innovates and modernizes its technical infrastructure, aiming to serve children better and better.

The hospital has invested in modern equipment systems such as high-frequency ventilators, automatic testing machines, multi-parameter monitors, etc. to effectively serve the treatment of severe cases and premature infants.

The team of doctors and nurses are regularly trained and transferred techniques from central hospitals such as the National Children's Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital... to increasingly improve their skills and master advanced techniques such as neonatal resuscitation, blood transfusion, and treatment of rare diseases in children.

The hospital has made great strides in implementing assisted reproductive technology - in vitro fertilization (IVF) - helping many infertile couples realize their dream of becoming parents.

Along with treatment, the hospital also designed a friendly, intimate space with a play area to help children feel safe and close. The application of digital technology such as electronic medical records and remote consultation via social networks has shortened waiting time, improved the efficiency of medical examination and created satisfaction for patients and relatives.

Together with the Provincial Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital, the Provincial General Hospital has implemented many comprehensive child health care activities, combining expertise and community responsibility.

The hospital's Pediatrics Department is home to a team of dedicated, highly skilled doctors who are ready to receive and treat complex cases. In order to contribute to expanding access to healthcare, the hospital regularly coordinates to organize free medical screenings for children in localities, especially in remote, isolated, and disadvantaged areas.

A typical example is the “School Dentistry” program organized by the hospital in collaboration with the Provincial Children’s Fund, which examined and provided oral health consultation to thousands of students; many children with facial deformities were supported with surgery, giving them confidence and bright smiles.

Along with that, the congenital heart disease screening program, coordinated by the hospital with Hanoi Heart Hospital and the Provincial Children's Fund, is implemented in many rural communes, mountainous communes, and disadvantaged areas to help many children, especially children in difficult circumstances, poor households, children of policy families... to be examined, have their diseases detected early and receive timely treatment support.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Dao Tru commune (Tam Dao) emotionally shared: “I am truly grateful for the heart screening program for children. My child was examined for free locally, received thorough consultation and I have more knowledge to take care of my child's heart health.”

With the right orientation and drastic actions, Vinh Phuc Health sector has gradually become a bright spot in child health care. In the coming time, the provincial Health sector will continue to promote health communication, especially nutrition communication for children; strengthen prenatal screening, newborn screening; improve medical capacity with specialized techniques in the field of pediatrics... to improve the quality of child health care, contributing to building a healthy, intelligent young generation, taking on the mission of being the future masters of the country.
