On December 12, at the University of Water Resources, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) held a scientific workshop on “Improving the quality of training and fostering teachers and lecturers of national defense and security education to meet the requirements of the task of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation”. Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc attended and spoke at the workshop.
Attending the workshop were leaders of a number of units under the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security , along with experts, scientists and representatives of higher education institutions.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc stated: In the Fourth Industrial Revolution, knowledge plays a decisive role in economic development, creating material wealth and improving the quality of life. Education and training are the key to the success of each country. Looking at the education system can predict the future of a country. Looking at the team of teachers and education managers can assess the quality of an education system.
In recent years, under the leadership and direction of the Ministry of Education and Training, the coordination of ministries, departments, branches, localities, departments of education and training, universities, academies, and autonomous universities; National Defense and Security Education Centers have strongly and resolutely implemented innovations in programs, content, processes, methods, and forms of training and fostering, especially innovating teaching activities of teachers, lecturers and learning activities of students.

The inspection and evaluation of training results are carried out relatively strictly, following the correct procedures and ensuring objectivity, reflecting the actual quality of training and fostering teachers and lecturers teaching and learning the subject of National Defense and Security Education, creating positive changes in the awareness and responsibility of students regarding the task of protecting the Fatherland.
However, according to Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc, the implementation of resolutions, directives, and guiding documents of the Party and State on national defense and security education by a number of Party committees, local authorities, departments of education and training, and higher education institutions is not thorough, lacks synchronization, the content is still overlapping, not close to reality, and lacks a team of highly specialized teachers and lecturers...
Therefore, the workshop was organized with the desire to create a forum for scientists and managers to exchange opinions and experiences, thereby finding practical solutions to innovate and improve the quality of training and fostering teachers and lecturers of national defense and security education in teaching and learning the subject of National Defense and Security Education for students.

From the presentations and opinions exchanged at the workshop, the Deputy Minister suggested that agencies and units refer to good practices, good experiences and creative solutions to apply in practice in accordance with the characteristics and tasks of the agencies and units; build a team of teachers and lecturers of national defense and security education who are politically steadfast, morally bright, professionally skilled, and meet the requirements and tasks of education and training in the new situation.
Educational institutions need to strengthen political and ideological education; be active, proactive and creative in developing a team of teachers to ensure sufficient quantity and quality. Continue to innovate the process and training programs for teachers and lecturers of National Defense and Security Education in accordance with reality. Build an environment and create conditions for the team of teachers to be active and proactive in contributing.

At the workshop, delegates focused on analyzing and clarifying the leadership and direction in training and fostering of educational institutions in the past time; the quality of teachers and lecturers; the quantity and structure of teachers and managers of national defense and security education; the program, content, form, method and quality of training and fostering of teachers and lecturers teaching the subject of National Defense and Security Education; the regime and policies on treatment of teachers and educational managers; facilities and teaching equipment of educational institutions, etc.
The organizing committee has compiled all the opinions and recommendations of the delegates at the workshop. Based on that, there will be proposals and advice on policies, content and methods in training and fostering teachers and lecturers of national defense and security education.
