With an area of nearly 3.5 hectares of vegetable land, the family of Mr. Nguyen Huu Bao, Binh Minh sub-area earns over 2.5 billion VND/year. Mr. Bao shared: The family divides the area to grow each type of vegetable, each season has its own type, such as: green squash, cucumber, potato... The family also invested in a drip irrigation system controlled by smartphone and applied advanced farming techniques; using organic fertilizers, biological products that do not affect the environment, preventing pests according to the "4 rights" principle to create quality, safe products, so the products are sold out as soon as they are made and always have a stable selling price.
At Mr. Van Dinh Chung's family vegetable garden in Binh Minh sub-area, the automatic irrigation system has greatly reduced the care work compared to before. Mr. Chung shared: Now, only one person needs to press the phone to control the irrigation system within 15 minutes to water the entire area of more than 1.1 hectares of vegetables. The products are beautiful in appearance and of good quality; we also actively sell, introduce and promote the products on social networks, so many people know and come to the garden to buy. The family's vegetable output reaches more than 200 tons/year, earning nearly 1.5 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Thu, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: Currently, Co Noi Commune has more than 600 hectares of various vegetables, mainly green squash, cucumber, green mustard greens, tomatoes, cabbage, beans, cauliflower, and herbs. Every year, the commune propagates and guides people to proactively ensure materials, sow according to the crop calendar, select appropriate varieties and seed structures, with productivity, quality, and suitability to local climate and soil conditions. Coordinate with specialized units, departments, and offices of the district to organize training and transfer of techniques to farmers, apply high technology, and produce according to VietGAP standards. At the same time, encourage people to join in establishing cooperatives, producing in the direction of green and sustainable agriculture . Actively and proactively link up to consume vegetables in and outside the province.
The lush green vegetable growing areas in Co Noi are the result of the hard work and diligence of farmers and the change in mindset, application of science and technology in production, increasing income, and realizing the dream of getting rich on their homeland.
