This year's spring rice crop saw the entire province planting 9,835 hectares, equivalent to 100.4% of the plan; including 478 hectares in Lao Cai city, over 1,000 hectares in Bat Xat, over 1,576 hectares in Bao Thang, 3,360 hectares in Van Ban, 2,600 hectares in Bao Yen, 424 hectares in Muong Khuong, and 393 hectares in Bac Ha.
The area applying improved rice intensification (SRI), single-variety rice, and high-quality rice cultivation in this year's spring crop reached over 5,000 hectares, equivalent to 100% compared to the same period last year.

According to the agricultural sector's assessment, this year's spring rice crop has seen some pest and disease outbreaks, but with the guidance of specialized agencies and local authorities, farmers have promptly sprayed pesticides and followed technical procedures for crop control, resulting in good growth and development of the rice plants; the estimated yield is 61.33 quintals/hectare.

Given the unpredictable weather, farmers in the province are currently focusing on harvesting the spring rice crop and clearing the land to prepare for the summer rice crop.
For the main rice crop, the province plans to plant over 24,226 hectares (13,968 hectares of single-crop rice in highland areas and 10,258 hectares of main-crop rice in lower areas). To date, farmers in the province have planted over 13,079 hectares.
