Spring rice yield is estimated at over 61 quintals/ha

This year's spring rice crop, the whole province planted 9,835 hectares, equal to 100.4% of the plan; of which, Lao Cai city 478 hectares, Bat Xat more than 1,000 hectares, Bao Thang more than 1,576 hectares, Van Ban 3,360 hectares, Bao Yen 2,600 hectares, Muong Khuong 424 hectares, Bac Ha 393 hectares.

The area applying Systemic Rice Intensification (SRI), single-varietal fields, and high-quality spring rice this year reached over 5,000 hectares, equal to 100% over the same period last year.

According to the agricultural sector's assessment, this year's spring rice crop has seen the appearance of a number of pests and diseases, but with the direction and guidance of the professional sector and local authorities, farmers have promptly sprayed pesticides and taken care of the plants according to technical procedures, so the rice plants have grown and developed well; the yield is estimated at 61.33 quintals/ha.

Faced with unpredictable weather conditions, farmers in the province are currently focusing on harvesting spring rice and clearing land to prepare for the winter-spring rice crop.

In the winter-spring rice crop, the whole province is expected to plant over 24,226 hectares (single crop rice in the highlands 13,968 hectares, winter-spring rice in the lower areas 10,258 hectares). Up to now, farmers in the province have planted over 13,079 hectares.
