Through the survey, it can be seen that currently our country still does not have a common ticket card standard, the traffic ticket card system is not interconnected, and there is no synchronous coordination between units. Therefore, people participating in traffic still have to pay in cash or use many different types of tickets. Meanwhile, many countries in the world have implemented a traffic ticket card model using bank cards such as the UK, Singapore, Thailand, ...

In response to the requirement of data synchronization and standardization of technical standards for payment in the public transport sector in Vietnam, in the role of a unit building the national retail payment infrastructure, NAPAS has shared some specific results in expanding cooperation with units in the past time, and at the same time, proposed some solutions to promote public transport payment in the coming time, specifically as (i) building a centralized electronic ticket card system at the national/city level; (ii) using bank cards in transport payments with resources of more than 50 million contactless chip cards that have just been converted from magnetic cards by banks. In terms of technology, NAPAS also recognized the need to issue standards for ticket cards according to open standards based on international standards and current domestic chip card standards VCCS, and at the same time apply new technology ABT (Account-based Ticketing) when building centralized ticket card systems of the country/city.

As part of the sideline activities of the Cashless Day 2023 program, on the morning of June 16, 2023, under the witness of the representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center and representatives of banks, NAPAS and ONEFIN Vietnam Joint Stock Company (ONEFIN Vietnam) signed a cooperation agreement to deploy a payment support solution for NAPAS domestic chip cards in transport payments and payments ineducational activities.

The cooperation content is the basis for both sides to be more active in researching and soon introducing modern electronic payment methods, not only serving the payment needs of customers but also contributing to promoting the habit of participating in public transport of people in Ho Chi Minh City.
