Netflix Removes Episode About MH370, Violating Vietnamese Law

Currently when searching for the movie MH370: The Lost Plane on the Netflix app, episode 1 of this documentary is no longer accessible. The information displayed says " This episode has been removed at the request of the government ".

On April 12, after receiving a document from the Ministry of Information and Communications , Netflix reported a review of inaccurate content and removed the entire episode 1 of the documentary MH370: The Missing Plane from Netflix's content store in Vietnam.

Providing false information and defaming the reputation of the Vietnamese Government is a violation of the provisions of Clause 8, Article 9 of the current Press Law. In the coming time, if Netflix continues to violate the provisions prohibited by Vietnamese law, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information will coordinate with relevant state management agencies to strictly handle the matter according to regulations, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information said.

Previously, on the afternoon of April 6, responding to a regular press conference about the documentary " MH370, the missing plane " which claimed that Vietnam did not cooperate in the search for the plane, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang affirmed that this information did not reflect reality and the producer and filmmaker needed to revise and remove inappropriate content.

" Up to now, the authorities have not yet made any conclusions about the disappearance of MH370. Therefore, the documentary 'MH370, the disappeared plane' makes comments when there is no official conclusion from the authorities. It is untrue, baseless, does not reflect the efforts of the Vietnamese authorities and makes the Vietnamese public indignant. We request the production company and filmmakers to accurately reflect Vietnam's contributions to the search and rescue of Malaysia's MH370 and remove and modify inappropriate content, " said Ms. Pham Thu Hang.

The documentary "MH370, the missing plane" aired on Netflix, produced by Raw TV, talks about the mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 in 2014. The film received a rating of 6/10 from audiences on the movie review site IMDb, 86% on Rotten Tomatoes and 1.7/5 on Google.
