Russia inaugurates new National Space Center NSC

President Putin affirmed that the NSC is a new stage in the development of the space industry, consolidating Russia's position as "one of the centers and leading countries in this important field."

According to RIA Novosti, on September 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Director General of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) Dmitry Bakanov officially inaugurated the new National Space Center NSC in Moscow.

Speaking at the event, President Putin emphasized that this is a comprehensive effort for Russia to maintain its position among the leading countries in space research and exploration .

He affirmed that the inauguration of the NSC is a new stage in the development of the space industry, consolidating Russia's position as “one of the centers and leading countries in this important field.”

Mayor Sobyanin said the center is one of the most modern in Moscow. Meanwhile, General Director Bakanov said that the building will house the flight control center for Russia's orbital station.

The new center is located in western Moscow, built on the site of the Khrunichev Space Research and Production Center since late 2019.

The architectural highlight of this project is the 47-storey tower, 288m high, with the top of the tower simulating the shape of a rocket on a launch pad.

In addition, the new center also includes low-rise buildings of 8-10 floors, connected by walking corridors and bridges to facilitate employee movement.

This will be the workplace of Roscosmos staff, some private companies and representatives of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in Russia./.
